Steve Orlando is on fire right now and Annihilation 2099 just stoked them flames to an inferno! This was honestly a blast to read. I was completely immersed into The Last Nova and Dracula Rising was the perfect introduction to what I fell this whole series will lead to. I love this short stories where creators get to test the waters and push the boundaries of what they can do and what Marvel will allow. I'm very intrigued to see where they go from here! Annihilation 2099 #1 comes out swinging with a character origin, Western vibes, and an excellent backup. If there's any indication with this issue, the 2099 universe is as exciting as ever and prime to dazzle fans of Marvel cosmic. Read Full Review
Overall, Annihilation 2099 #1 isn't bad but it's not what's expected concerning its name. If you go in think it's a new take on the classic story, you'll be disappointed like I was. But, it could be interesting to kick off an expansion of the 2099 universe, introducing new aspects and characters leading to… something. Overall, this could be one where the whole is better than the individual parts. Read Full Review
There are some really good ideas and sequences sprinkled throughout the bookparticularly an outlaw gang of symbiotes and Dracula mowing down a group of space piratesbut we'll have to keep reading to get a better idea on what this is all leading to. For now, it's a fun start. Read Full Review
I'm not a huge fan of cosmic stuff in general. I enjoy Guardians for the characters themselves, but not much else in this type of book. I decided to give this a shot on a whim. The Nova story was actually quite interesting. I enjoyed it and the twist was cool. I just skimmed the Dracula story after the first page or two though, it couldn't hold my attention. Hope more comes of this Nova though.
this was a fun/decent issue. not the best, but considering it's from Steve Orlando its something.
Nova part - 7
Dracula part - 5
