• Just in time for the ANT-MAN movie (funny, that), it's the team-up you've been waiting for: Scott Lang and Hank Pym, together again! Ant-bros!
•  A classic villain makes his dreaded return!
•  And a new hero is born! Well, not born, really -- he's already an adult. Nobody wants to read about a super-baby. (Or do they?)

Ant-Man Annual #1 is a rollicking and often hilarious proto-introduction to Scott's world and the appeal of a guy who can shrink and quip with the best of them. Read Full Review

Ant-Man Annual does its job in making me curious to read the rest of the series. If you have an extra few bucks, I would say pick it up and read it" the character Machinesmith alone almost makes it worth the pick up. Read Full Review

We The Nerdy - Jack Johnston Jul 17, 2015

Overall I really enjoyed this annual which surprised me as I often find them very tacked on and out of place but fortunatley the event that is Secret Wars allows this to fit snugly between arcs, therefore feeling more like a continuation of the story and nods to the previous arc help carry this through as well. If you have been following the series up to now it is well worth your time and if you haven't but you're interested in jumping in, this would serve as a good point as it does a good job of introducing and fleshing out characters and relationships. ANT-MAN ANNUAL #1 was like a breath of fresh air. It was a nice little break from everything going on in SECRET WARS and was a highly entertaining read. This series really has a "little less wacky SUPERIOR FOES" feel to it and it was really cool to see two generations of people who wore the Ant-Man mantle working together. The issue will put a smile on the faces of Ant-Man fans or just comic fans in general. I haven't had this much fun with an Annual issue in a long time. I highly recommend it. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Doug Zawisza Jul 17, 2015

In the first ever "Ant-Man Annual" #1, writer Nick Spencer does what Annuals were designed to do: tell an oversized story that has additional story potential and entertains the whole way through. This issue makes reference to the soon-to-conclude current volume of "Ant-Man" and also points readers towards the original graphic novel "Avengers: Rage of Ultron" without spoiling either and still applying the effects of each to the story here. Neither tale is necessary to appreciate this, but Spencer realizes the value in keeping connective tissue connected. With Ant-Man about to take over the spotlight cinematically, this comic is hitting at just the right time and provides plenty of pathways to explore in the near (and possibly distant) future, as Scott Lang continues to try to live up to the example set by Hank Pym. Fun and fully realised, if a little fluffy. One to watch post Secret Wars, if only for the controversy. Read Full Review

    All-Comic - Lido Giovacchini Jul 17, 2015

The ending is fairly ambiguous as to what the future holds for Scott Lang and theres still been little to no word on where his ongoing will fall in the post-Secret Wars days. So if this is intended as the cap to his time as Ant-Man before Marvel dusts him off again in however many years, its a pretty fun send off to the character. It highlights what makes him a unique and engaging counterpart to his predecessor and even what serves to make him a superior Ant-Man in a lot of ways. Its funny, its exciting, its got a lot of heart, and its a solid send off to Marvels littlest hero. Read Full Review
