After discovering the body of Plutona - the world's greatest superhero - in the woods, a shocking twist starts to tear the kids apart.
After discovering the body of PLUTONA, the world's greatest super hero, in the woods, five kids must decide what to do next, a decision that may tear their young lives apart.
The characterization and "acting" in this is fantastic! Lemire and Lenox create a world that feels totally real and relatable, weaving together a coming-of-age story, a murder mystery, and nods to classic superhero comics. The art is gorgeous, an anime-style rendering with watercolors and washes which at once make the universe feel lived in and slightly magical. Highly recommended.
A brand new heartfelt super-hero series by JEFF LEMIRE (DESCENDER, Hawkeye) and amazing newcomer EMI LENOX! This made me bawl like a baby in the best possible way. This is what comics are capable of.
• She's beat down basic baddies, stopped super-villains and even conquered her evil ex-crush.
• But now that Kamala Khan has finally found her stride as a hero, the planet's gotta go and collide with an alternate Earth...Typical.

It's unfortunate, but I really feel like Rat Queens has lost some of its magic. Part of the problem is that Tess Fowler's art just doesn't inspire the same sense of fantastical wonder as Upchurch or Šejić's did (or as her own art did in the Braga special). The story is interesting enough, but Fowler's art, which is much more conventional comics fare, is not well suited to the material. Also, undmore
"DEMONA," Part Three
The Rat Queens arrive at Mage University: the place where everything went wrong for Hannah not so long ago.
I expected to hate this, but it surprised me. The first issue of DK3 is smart and well-paced, addressing important social issues such as police violence against African Americans and an overall culture of corruption and incompetence, and the art recalls Miller's best without simply aping his distinctive style. It's not perfect by any means, and the sidestory with the Atom was not interesting whatsmore
The epic ending you never saw coming is here because you demanded it! The Dark Knight rises again to face the dawn of the master race!
I picked up the first two issues of Dark Knight III: The Master Race on the recommendation of a friend who suggested that it was worthwhile, despite my understandable misgivings. The first issue in particular addresses social issues such as police violence, he told me. I was surprised, but I figured I'd check it out. The first issue wasn't perfect, but it had potential. I didn't care about any of more

It's a decent book, but I don't feel compelled to buy the next issue.

"GOLD, GUTS AND GROG," Part One
Who are the Rat Queens? A pack of booze-guzzling, death-dealing battle maidens-for-hire, and they're in the business of killing all gods' creatures for profit.
It's also a darkly comedic fantasy series starring Hannah the Rockabilly Elven Mage, Violet the Hipster Dwarven Fighter, Dee the Atheist Human Cl...
The art's nice, but the writing is a mess.

Great series from start to finish. I'm keeping Ms Marvel Vol2 high on my pull list because it is sure to satisfy every month. Fantastic creative team. I'm very pleased with this new addition to the marvel universe and excited to see her become more prevalent across many books.

I have really loved the direction this series has been taking and this issue was no exception for me. This of course is the final issue before the world 'ends' and the events of Secret Wars will begin. This issue does not have a whole lot of action, but instead focuses on Kamala's interaction with the important people in her life knowing the world will most likely end having been told so by Captaimore

Beautiful and understated.

A sickness eats away at Hellboy. Though he’s dead, he risks losing himself and becoming one of the hollow phantoms that haunt Hell. A team of doctors promise a cure, but they need something from him first . . .
I thought this one was a bit of a let down after the first--it just didn't have the same intensity. That said, sometimes you have to do some place setting, and Kot does that pretty well here. I'm definitely interested in what comes next.
History comes alive. The investigation thickens.

I'm honestly not sure of the last time I hated something by a creative team that I like as much as I hated this. This book was pretentious, even for GMo, and far too on-the-nose with its commentary on the creative process. It reveled far too much in the genre conventions it was trying to parody--or at least I hope that it was trying to parody them, because otherwise there's no excuse for how over-more

Galactic fugitive Max Nomax brings the wrath of an almighty cosmic enforcer crashing down on them. All will be revealed as the darkest secrets of Nomax's past finally come to light. With deat...
This last arc has been rough. Meandering, difficult to connect with, but in its last two issues it finally pulls everything together--and gives us the kind of action we've been so sorely missing. It ultimately feels like most of the events of this most recent arc are rendered pointless by the events of #30, but this issue itself was so strong that it was hard to linger on those thoughts. Hellboy revisits an old vampire acquaintance in the bowels of Hell.
Hellboy helps a confused man who sold his soul for a magic whip-a story inspired by one of the stranger Grimm's fairy tales.
After a bizarre family reunion, Hellboy can barely process the new information, and the things he's done, since arriving in Hell. But Mike Mignola has one more revelation before concluding this initial monthly run of the story we've been building to since 1994 . . .
