• Natasha goes head to head with CHAOS!
• Will Natasha be able to bring down the unassailable Prophet?
There is absolutely nothing bad anyone can say about this series. It's one of the best books out there, and, at least pre-Secret Wars, it was probably one of Marvel's best books. The quality hasn't wavered once, and this issue is no different. There are not enough synonyms for the word “awesome” that will accurately describe it. And just when you think it's beginning to wind down – nope, something happens and you begin to wonder, instead, what's going to happen next. This issue, like it's seventeen predecessors, isdefinitely worth reading all the way through. Read Full Review
Its unknown whether or not this series will continue beyond SECRET WARS, but if this is the last we see of this creative team on this character, it will have been a satisfying conclusion. Of course hope springs eternal that theyll continue, and they do a good job of setting up possible threads that could be picked up later without making the end feel hollow. Black Widow #18 brings the character to a crossroads, that leave her questioning her future. The way in which the creative team handle this, along with the intense developments themselves, makes this issue one of the best in the series to date, and though I have doubts heading into the Secret Wars tie-in (tie-ins from ongoing series generally aren't that great), this is certainly a must have read for fans of the character. Nathan Edmondson and Phil Noto continued to show us how much chemistry they have with the close of their latest arc. It's that chemistry that made Black Widow #18 something I wanted to read multiple times, just to catch the little things they each did. With how many question marks they left in Natasha's life with how things ended I am excited to see what they will do next with her. Read Full Review
As I have mentioned numerous times, it is titles like Black Widow that keep me interested in comics. They tell nice stories without having to completing undue what has come before it. This volume of Black Widow simply added another compelling layer to what was always an intriguing character. Read Full Review
Now, maybe the next storyline in the series, The Last Days of Black Widow, will be so good that I'll be able to shake the feeling that this issue resolved her storyline too abruptly. This creative team certainly is capable of crafting a perfect final Black Widow story. But even though I consider this issue slightly too abrupt to resolve the ongoing story line, Edmondson and Noto have still created a thrilling and compelling issue that lives up to the stellar ones that preceded. What a great series. Phil Noto knocked it out of the park. Kudos for the great art. One of the most underrated series for Marvel.
