After so many years with fans demanding a fight between both characters, we finally had it. An excellent writer who respectfully wrote the best portrayal of both characters in a comic book. Read Full Review
Lots of fun, great art, and surprisingly good character moments. It's an enjoyable comic for anyone who likes wisecracks and head-shots. Read Full Review
Punisher vs. Deadpool felt rushed by issue #3 and it felt like the story could have had more to it, but everything felt crammed into the 5 issues by the end of the series. I love how Fred van Lente gives so much praise to both heroes in this series by providing details for each character, but ultimately it came out more like a bad setup for a sequel to the movie "Shoot 'Em Up". All in all, I feel like I should have just left this series on the shelf at the local comic shop after the first couple of issues and saved myself some money. Read Full Review
Of course the final issue of Deadpool vs. Punisher couldn't pass up the chance to mock Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. But I'm afraid that gag was stale a year ago, and it just isn't worth the attention that it gets in this issue. Read Full Review
This is the best mini series I have read in a while. While it is by far an in-depth story, the characters, the art and the interactions between Deadpool and Frank have been exceptional. The art is grade A, while the story is just as much fun. I think this last issue ranks as one of the best of the series and I could not ask for anything more. I really was not a fan of Deadpool before, so I bought this originally for the Punisher. It did not disappoint and made me dislike Deadpool even less!
Pretty solid. Classic Deadpool mixed with Punisher. Honestly the best of both worlds and hopefullly one day they'll cross paths again.
The series ends with lame meta-humor, fourth wall abuse, and a super-dated Batman vs. Superman joke. Who do you think won? Deadpool runs this issue from start to finish. Perhaps the best way to say it is that Fred Van Lente is *way* better at writing archetypal Deadpool than archetypal Punisher. His attempt to subtly explore the fundamental questions of Frank Castle's motivation a la Born - in the middle of a Deadpool fight - is doomed from the start. The art is still impressive and the action is fun, but the way the larger plot falls away and leaves us with nothing but two action figures smashing together is a bit of a let-down.
