A Comic Book Blog - Geoff Arbuckle Aug 22, 2012

I want to see why Rhodey's faked death leads to the J.A.R.V.I.S. program to attempt violence against Pepper and Wyche. I'm dying to see Tony's final assault against the Mandarin in what's surely going to be a big battle between Tony and his former rogues against the Mandarin and his Titanomechs. This is a book that has brought me back around to being almost unwilling to wait for the next issue to come out! Read Full Review

All in all, it's another solid issue written by Fraction. Salvador Larocca's art is wonderful as always. Read Full Review

Little has changed regarding the art, which has been the case for years at this point. Unfortunately, Salvador Larroca doesn't have the opportunity to break out his altered flashback style as he did in issue #522. Still, the issue offers a nice mix of simple character interaction, high-octane, armored action, and sci-fi imagery. Oddly, the one visual element of the book that has changed is the cover design. It's a positive change, but it seems weird to suddenly make the change in the middle of an arc and the tail end of a four-year saga. Read Full Review

Weekly Comic Book Review - Alex Evans Aug 24, 2012

It's a decent issue, but clearly a transitional one. Still, a transitional issue of one of the best superhero comics on the stands is better than the majority of what's out there. Read Full Review

Fraction and Larroca's run starts coming to a close next month as "Armor Wars III" kicks off. While The Invincible Iron Man #523 may be an unremarkable component of the larger whole, I have hopes that its last pages have positioned the cast for an explosive finale, one that will make this team of creators the benchmark for Iron Man for years to come. Comic Book Resources - Doug Zawisza Aug 27, 2012

This storyline is far from my favorite of the series. Fraction and Larroca have pulled out all the stops by bringing in virtually all of Iron Man's foes over the course of the story, but it still feels woefully incomplete. There is no mistaking that "Invincible Iron Man" #523 is part of a larger narrative, and a fairly unmemorable installment at that. I just hope the larger part kicks in soon and the creative duo is able to celebrate their last few issues on this series with flair. Read Full Review
