Whilst the reveal of the identity of the new Ronin is unlikely to really wow anyone, it'll be interesting to see what Bendis does with the character in future issues, and Luke Cage's talk of a conspiracy which ties together "Avengers Disassembled," Secret War, Civil War and House of M also bodes well for the writer finally tying up some of the mystery plot strands that were begun in the very first issue of this title. Even if the cliffhanger seems a little artificial (and any sense of surprise is completely blown by the cover image), I'm still interested to see how this arc plays out. However, there's a growing sense that the time for talking is over, and I hope the book kicks into a higher gear soon. Read Full Review

No, Bendis should let someone else step up to the plate to make The New Avengers a homerun again. Read Full Review

Thank Asgard then for Leinil Yu, who at least makes the mess look good. I adore the rough, almost savage, style of his linework, and the scratchy woodcut-like details he puts into every panel give everything a textured and visually interesting look. Yu's storytelling is energetic yet clear (one strange panel in which Iron Man seems to be enacting a solo production of Hamlet aside), and Dave McCaig's vivid colours bring the whole thing to bright, technicolour life (that said, the cover is an excellent example of how great Yu's work would look without colour too). This really is a great-looking comic, but looks alone can't rescue the tangled wreckage that passes for the writing. Read Full Review

New Avengers #30 was just a complete mess of an issue. This was a horrid read. Both the writing and the artwork combined for a real stinker of an issue. I have no faith in Bendis being able to right this ship and make the New Avengers a quality read. I would only recommend the New Avengers if you are a big fan of one of the members of the New Avengers or if you just love Electra and the Hand. Read Full Review
