If you read this title prior to Siege this wouldnt be a bad ending. Fortunately there is a one shot that wraps this up. Knowing who Sentry is and re reading this I will say what a badass ending. This series was pure gold. Jae lee was just incredible and the whole gimmick Marvel pulled on making this a real life conspiracy as well was pretty crazy. Pure Gold.
For those who may be confused, this isn't the end of the story. It doesn't just end on this massive cliffhanger. However, I will say it is a curious creative choice to finish the story in a series of pseudo-oneshots, but Jenkins has been absolutely killing it so far that I'm completely willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he knows what he's doing. On its own though, this issue was another solid piece of what has been an absolutely incredible story so far. Very much looking forward to the climax of this tale.
Lots of atmosphere, but here at either the end or the midpoint of the series it's hard to get away from the fact that Jenkins just doesn't have 5 issues' worth of things to say about this concept. This series the bones of a good idea wrapped in excellent vibes and beautiful art, but unlike Moore & Gaiman who had a new idea every couple pages on Miracleman, Jenkins ultimately has little more than a plot description.
This issue leads into a series of team-up one-shots that I recall mostly being interminable and disappointing filler at the time save for Sentry/Void (but they're not on CBRU, so I won't be reviewing them here even if I read them all). This is emblematic both of the big swings Marvel used to take under Quesada and als more
Wtf is that ending
