Silk #5 provides engaging ideas that seem to make Albert the protagonist rather than Silk. Read Full Review
Silk fans will certainly find something fun here, but this series is more built on the dream pitch rather than telling a fun Silk story, whose presence often felt ancillary. Read Full Review
I think this was a very good story told in the wrong format and length. If Cindy Moon had an ongoing solo series (or even the annoying chain of minis that Marvel throws at its B-listers these days), giving her brother Albert the spotlight for a two-issue arc that evolved their relationship this way would be great.
As five standalone issues, the premise stretches too far and begins to crack. Saya isn't enough of an antagonist to go this distance, and there are undeniable drawbacks to sidelining the titular hero for this long.
It still winds up eminently readable thanks to excellent art and fearless commitment from the author. Imperfect, sure--but with tons of appeal waiting for readers who can forgive the formatting foi more
Fun/goofy Silk run.
I feel like overall this arc was very mixed.
Somethings I like was a creative and humiliating way to defeat Saya. Kind of sidelines that villain for a while though, so I hope that means in the future a deepening of Silks rouge gallery. Could use some new and unique characters.
Art was ok, not good not bad.
The brother stuff left me mixed. I do like the message that it was trying to send, and it felt like the story had good bones, but it just never really clicked for me. I might have got close, but never went above good/decent.
The bad was that this all felt kind of meaningless. Like a story that was mostly about Silks brother, and was a fun tale but I dont see how this fits into anything else. more
And so the arc closes.
Some fun ideas half baked into a disappointing adventure.
Silk honestly deserves better storyarcs.
