Spider-Man: The Lost Hunt #4 is a little long, but it's a fantastic read. Read Full Review
Kraven being an exile from his own land like Orisha just isn't enough of a reason for me to just sit back and smile as I read secrets of Africa be spoiled and perverted by European colonists thanks to a native woman who never should have been trusted with the sacred information in the first place, even if the African land this time around is fictitious. For me, this is the best Spidey title out right now. As a sorta sequel to Kraven's Last Hunt, I appreciate this story trying to giver further detail into the Kraveoff Family. Also Mj being the linchpin to hold Peter's insanity at pay I liked. At the very least. I can see the writing is engaging and has purpose that an adult audience can enjoy. I can't really say that about Dark Web in Amazing.
While Peter's story takes a small but important step forward, Orisha spins out her backstory. And in the process, the author weaves a remarkable tapestry, stitching a new thread through everything we know about Kraven and Spider-Man and creating a new pattern. Rich themes and symbolism.
Unfortunately, it's another case of "too many cooks" on the art front. Though I dearly love getting a whiff of Marguerite Sauvage, the overall mix just doesn't blend well.
