Spider-Punk's second issue continues to flesh out this alternate Earth and its myriad of characters, as the creative team delves deep into the punk and fun aspects of this story while building something huge in the background. This is exactly the type of story that we need in times like these, hitting all the relatable notes while leaving room for so much more. Read Full Review

Spider-Punk #2 is a terrible comic, but it's at least a better comic than issue #1. The action scenes are ridiculous, the big reveal surrounding the mystery of the Spider-Band's land is given without any build-up, ceremony, or sense, and the dialog is painfully bad. Like where the plot is heading, but there's some tumbling on our way there.
No idea why Taskmaster was even in this, he had no presence other than in the artwork to really make sure he's there.
The best part of the book is it's characters and the artwork.
I must point out, the cover of this issue is kinda hilarious.
He got web coming out of his butt lol
The art continues to be deliciously grungy. I still like the writing -- though not the way the slang quotient is climbing. But the structure and pace of these first 2 issues is outstanding; they do an excellent job assembling the team and revealing the challenge that awaits them.
I do wish that challenge was a bit more inventive. This plot feels awfully safe, particularly for a "punk" comic.
It's definitely a satisfactory comic, and readers in its target niche will probably rate it more than satisfactory. But I'm not in the niche.
