The Rebellion's fight to liberate Mon Cala continues! While Han, Luke and Leia undertake a perilous and nigh-impossible rescue, Threepio must keep up his vital mission...of hobnobbing at the opera?!

Well, no one was more surprised than me when I finished this issue, but I think that something has changed in this title. It was really good and I am happy, because frankly after the cinematic offering I really need Marvel Star Wars to be good right now. I've been enjoying Thrawn and Poe Dameron too, so if the main title turns things around like this then it makes for a good omen for that all important 50th issue coming round the corner. This installment is a bit more of a transitional issue with what's going on within the arc as we get to move between a few locations as deals go bad and the action scales up significantly. I liked aspects of the rescue that focused on Leia and the group but was frustrated by Threepio and his companions as it was just too much physical comedy and the like. At this point I'm interested in seeing how the bigger picture plays out but I like the nods we get to Raddus and his path overall as well as events on the Mon Cala ships as they get the broadcast. It should be going pretty big next in how it's going to beef up the fleet. Read Full Review
The Mon Calamari are enjoyable, while the leads are adequate. An okay story with okay art. This story is all over the place, between serious and silly, with the art a bit more consistent. Acceptable Star Wars fare. Read Full Review
There are some really well done moments in this issue that help bolster a relatively slow plot as well as set up something interesting in the next issue. Read Full Review
It appears this arc is going to be very up and down with a so-so issue here that does more to set up the finale than deliver a great story. Read Full Review
The penultimate issue of this arc was relatively disappointing, as the Rebel spies' mission was pulled off effectively, only to lead to underwhelming results. Epic action was teased for the next issue, though this issue failed to deliver any compelling action or dramatic reveals, making readers wonder why it has taken five issues to advance the story to this point. More fun Star Wars adventure. Gillen has really got a good grasp on the characters right now. Especially Han Solo, who continues to shine in this book. It should bring an interesting conclusion with the next issue.
I quite liked the interactions between C-3P0 and the Moff imposter, the two of them are an entertaining pair. I was sad to see the fate of Prince Lee Char but I liked that it was done in a way that inspired the Mon Calamari and created hope, very fitting with the themes of Star Wars. The ending of this issue suggests an action packed issue #49, so I will be looking forward to it as we approach the milestone #50.
First time Sal Larocca didn't trace faces and that really made me more invested in this comic. Excited to read next issue!
