Hopefully Marvel releases this trilogy in one big volume because I for one would leap at the chance of owning that. Read Full Review
This issue on its own might be the highlight of the event and is surely entertaining in its own right, but as the finale of something that fans had been hoping for since we met Qi'ra back in Solo: A Star Wars Story, it's a journey that feels like it ends with a whimper instead of a bang, as we still wish to see the figure return in some capacity in any place where we can get her. Hidden Empire is something that had interesting ideas within it but suffered from not having enough time to really feel like it was embedded in things. The whole idea of a Hydra-like organization within the Empire – and Rebellion – scratches a particular itch and utilizing Qi'ra adds something special to it. But I can definitely see this entire concept being ejected in the long run in favor of something else because it's just a bit too convoluted and it had to deal with other plotlines like the just plain dumb thing with The Spark. It's not horrible but it feels rushed and without the depth needed to pull it off. It's certainly more basic space opera than anything else, which isn't what something like this needed to be. Solid ending to a story that I wasn't really enjoying previously. Though we don't get much Aphra, it's nice to get even just a couple words from her written by anyone other than Ally Wong.
This issue really drops the ball for an ending. I was never sold on the F. Cage. Vader fights Aphra but lets her get away. He and the Emporer fall into the trap, which I thought was pretty dumb. They only way they survived was because the Knights of Ren saved them. Q'ira just bugs out and that's the end. What a waste of a character. Oh, well. At least it's over.
