Jan 03, 2024Thanos #2 left a bad taste in my mouth, especially after the excitement issue one gave this reviewer. Instead of a creative artistry, fans get a story cluttered and jumbled with confused character voices as well as a trivial plot that lacks any real promise and direction. Frankly, Thanos #2 was wordy, and felt like Cantwell was grasping at straws to make this story eventful. From incredibly thin, hard-to-decipher drawings to the Illuminati verbally bickering at each other, this comic is at a loss. My hope is that something can turn this story around quickly. The potential for anything is out there if Cantwell can find his footing like Ive seen him do it in the past. BUT hes going to have to make some drastic changes in order for it to happen. Let me know what you think, have a great week, and God Bless! Read Full Review

The battle between Hulk and Thanos is intense but fast, this installment is predictable and feels rushed in its narrative. Thanos reaches Roberta and tells her that he is not going to hurt her, he just wants her to remember what death is... MISTRESS DEATH! Art Play with lots of textures and shadows to show an interesting gloomy tone. Summary Roberta still doesn't know who she is, but Thanos is ready to make her remember and the Illuminati can't stop him!

This installment dumped a bucket of cold water on my enthusiasm. What I enjoyed the most from #1--Roberta's very relatable viewpoint--disappears, and what replaces it are generic, off-sounding heroes and an absurdly over-the-top, scenery-chewing Thanos. The storytelling is still sound (with the possible exception of the overdone, ineffective attempt to make the Hulk's arrival tense and mysterious), but I'm not as interested as I used to be in the story itself.
