The only real problem that I had with Ultimate Comics SpiderMan #2 is the cover, which I think speaks volumes about the level of quality of this issue. Of course, considering it beat out this week's amazing issues of Mice Templar Destiny and Incognito to be Book of the Week, you know it has to be one heck of an issue. As good as the first issue was, this issue really won me over and now has me clamoring for the next issue. Read Full Review
I'm so glad this comic continues, because it's great to see new adventures of a Spider-Man who reads like the original - fast, funny, sometimes outmatched but never defeated. Good stuff. Read Full Review
Nonetheless, despite a few shortcomings, the second issue of Ultimate Comics Spider-Man isn't any sophomore slump. On the contrary, it's another step in the right direction. Read Full Review
Ultimate Comics Spider-man has a lot against it, but somehow it manages to overcome it's problems and still be a fun read with incredible artwork that I give recommendations for. Even with a slow pace and some hit and miss moments I can't help but enjoy this issue much more and am hopeful for more enjoyable reads in the future of this comic so I give it a strong recommendation. Artist David Lafuente must have taken the perfect circular head of Spider-Man comments to heart as Spider-Man is sporting a much less perfectly circular head this issue. It has some figure to it. But this was the only complaint I had for his art, which is able to handle all aspects of the series. His action sequences are fun to read and very high energy, his comedic scenes offer a slightly cartoonish look while not going to extremes while the more dramatic moments have more than enough expression to really nail the mood and feelings of the characters. He is a very well-rounded artist in this respect and more than capable of drawing whatever Bendis needs and drawing it well, a gift which can only help a series like this. And now that Spider-Mans head is under control, theres nowhere to go but up! Read Full Review
All in all, this is a good story that does a great job of continuing the Ultimate Spider-Man saga. Well, there are parts of the artwork that bother me, but I still quite strongly recommend this issue and this series overall. Read Full Review
So continue to get this kids. Writer Brian Michael Bendis continues his great run on the character and isn't slowing down. Pick it up! Read Full Review
It's a whole different ballgame from the original Ultimate SpiderMan and I'm still trying to wrap my head around the changes, most of which I'm finding myself disliking on some level, but it's still a good comic that most will enjoy. Read Full Review
Definitely not a good read, but I'll still stick around to see if it gets better. Issue three will probably read more like the real “#2,” when we finally find out just what the hell happened to the Human Torch. But as of right now, the prolonged storytelling and the annoying anime look are not helping. Read Full Review
