This is a must-read series but the price is way too much for what is seemingly a bi-weekly series. Thankfully Marvel is offering subscriptions through the mail at 46% off! That is the best way to read this series on the cheap"and while the series is worth cover price is terms of quality, a lower cost is necessary so that more people can read these books. While I do enjoy the regular Amazing SpiderMan title and will always have a softspot for the original Peter Parker, the Ultimate version of the character by Bendis and LaFuente is simply blowing the 616 title out of the water. This issue is just another fine example of why this is one of the most enjoyable comics on the stands. Read Full Review

If there's any real criticism of the story, it's that it feels a little brief, fluffy and insubstantial, but that's probably just a side-effect of the light and airy tone with which Bendis and Lafuente are managing to imbue this book. It's a world away from the dour grimness of Ultimatum, and I get the impression that the creators of this title are just as happy as the readers to have moved past that crossover, and to be able to get on with telling their stories in the way that they do best. The biggest problem in deciding how to score this issue is the line between the writing and the art. Bendis does a fine job in crafting the story, and having the words flow from the character's mouths naturally, but the art lowers everything because of the overly done Manga styling. Sadly the issue could have earned a solid 4 or 4.5 had Marvel opted to stick with the previous art team, but I can only give Ultimate (Comics) Spider-Man #3 3 out of 5 Stars. Read Full Review

This usually fresh and upbeat fun series is starting to feel stagnant and predictable. Not only predictable in the macro sense (Johnny Storm meets Gwen Stacey), but also in the micro where every conversation and interaction is predictible and hovering on the cliche. Basically, I think it is time for USM to grow up. I know Bendis is just rebooting this series and the ball just got rolling, but I'm barely feeling this series. That being said, I am looking forward to the new focus on a new character next month. Read Full Review
