A comic is truly great when it can get the reader to feel an array of different emotions. You'll go from feeling really bad for Miles, to laughing at the way Bendis pokes fun at the villain in this issue; Batroc the Leaper. I think what I love the most (aside from the incredible art) is the dialogue. Each character is unique and has a unique voice, and Bendis really captures that magnificently. I hung on every word bubble and reveled in the beauty of every panel. If you are looking for a fun, entertaining, all-around great superhero comic to add to your pull list, you should definitely think about starting with this one. Read Full Review

And then Batroc shows up. I couldn't say exactly why, but Batroc the Leaper has developed a large and weird following, and now I see what all of the fuss is about. He's an old 60s villain made fresh who wears a ridiculous costume and has even more ridiculous powers, but his personality and French accent make him likable and fun to read. This issue also contains a subplot involving Captain America, but it gets buried underneath the more compelling content about Miles, and, of course, Batroc. You'd have to be an absolute eediot not to like him. Read Full Review

Major Spoilers - Zach Woolf Aug 1, 2012

For the last three issues of Ultimate Spider-Man I have paused to ask myself, "Do I really want to spend the $3.99 for this?" But every time I end up deciding, "Yes", and at the end of each issue I'm happy that I did. Every month the story of Miles Morales Is pushed farther and I'm sucked deeper into that world; it even has made me pick up other Ultimate books so I get the full United We Fallstory line. If you are a fan of any of the other Spider-Man books being published you should definitely be reading this. Ultimate Spider-Man is my new favorite issue from this run and earns 4.5 out of 5 stars. Whereas Ultimates alluded to the grander scope this only gives an off-handed comment and if it weren't for Cap you could easily forget that it was a part of Divided We Fall which disproves the claim that you could only read one of the books to know what is going on. Read Full Review

Comic Book Bin - Andy Frisk Aug 5, 2012

While not really tying into the Ultimate Comics mega line crossover, Ultimate All-New Spider-Man #13 is nonetheless a solid read. Bendis continues to make history by making the most unique character to ever wear the Spidey outfit not just an engaging character, but a winning one as well. Read Full Review

Next issue looks to be a blast, with what will hopefully be a powerful conversation between Miles, Aunt May and Captain America. I am really looking forward to that scene most of all. But this Divided We Fall stuff can go take a hike! Read Full Review

The issue is still pretty easy to follow, but the tie-in details " however unavoidable " are clunky. Fortunately, there's a juicy ending that will make Ultimate Spider-Man fans impatient to read the next issue. I know I am. Read Full Review

Comic Book Resources - Kelly Thompson Aug 6, 2012

Over a year in, "Ultimate Comics Spider-Man" continues to be one of the best and most consistent books I buy, with strong creative teams and a clear devoted vision for the book, Brian Michael Bendis has created a great new superhero in Miles Morales, one I'd love to see stand the test of time.
