Regardless, this is a another great chapter to a really cool story. I have been engrossed in this series from the get-go, and its never been in danger of losing my interest. I recommend this to anyone. Its a fantastic comic, and one of Marvels absolute best books on the market right now. Read Full Review

Ultimates 2 #8 was every bit the epic issue they said it would be. I was really bracing for something further tied to Secret Empire, and was delighted by something much more. Al Ewing once again proves why this is a book you should not overlook. They dare to acknowledge the unknown, to bring depth to it, and deliver to us one heck of a turn of events to this war. Brilliant! To put it simply, ULTIMATES2 #8 is amazing. If you had told me that Galactus, forever relegated to a "living" plot device, would become such an engaging, three-dimensional, character, I would have thought you were crazy. But ULTIMATES2 #8 proves that he is just that. Not a single member of the Ultimates appeared this issue (excepting, maybe, Galactus, himself) but you'll never notice...or care if you do. To top it off, the art of Aud Koch, which was such a detriment to the previous issue, only contributes to what makes this issue so terrific. The art just works so well here that I could not imagine another artist telling the story better. What a great issue. (07/08/17 - I just read ULTIMATES2 #8 for the second time. I w more

Surprisingly great issue when the Ultimates take a backseat and this series’ breakout character, Galactus, takes center stage

Galactus talks to Ego and lines up some extremely high-powered cosmic hitters. At this point it's undeniable that this comic's proper title is "Galactus and the Ultimates." There's nothing wrong with that when Big G is handled with this much creativity and insight. Al Ewing's script delivers mind-mangling comic wildness and a surprising amount of sympathetic characterization for both Galactus and Ego. Plus there's interesting opposition lurking in the twist ending. Aud Koch's art has progressed light years since her debut last month, and here her clean lines and creative layouts mesh perfectly with the cerebral writing. In both visuals and ideas, it feels like every drop of creative juice missing from the last issue was squeezed into this o more

Expecting this to be more pointless "Secret Empire" crossover (see last issue), I was very pleasantly surprised by this comic. Maybe the surprise added to the overall impact, but this was a great read. To see Galactus and Ego as they once were, in their original forms, was great. Al Ewing really knocks this issue out of the park. And the art of Aud Koch, which so did not work last month, is integral to the story here. He does a great job. Fantastic issue.
