The Ultimates walk straight into a trap in Micronesia and are caught in a gargantuan atomic explosion. Have any of them survived?

Ultimates #11 was a fun and exciting read. I cannot wait for the next issue. I am really going to miss Millar on this title. I have my doubts that about Jeph Loeb taking over the Ultimates. I definitely recommend any Millar written Ultimates issue. Read Full Review

Compared to the previous issues this latest chapter is a bit of a yawner, as Mark Millar looks to have gotten caught up in the idea that us fans are interested in seeing the villains explain their plan to the captured Wasp, while the Ultimates engage in some chest-beating posturing as they prepare to hit back after surviving the alien's sneak attack in the previous issue. Now having the alien threat lurking about on the planet for the better part of the past century, influencing events & directly causing World War II is an interesting idea, but given this idea was already presented to us in the previous chapter, I saw very little need for this issue to revisit this idea and examine it more closely. Now the idea that the Skrulls have to consume the bodies of the people whose identities they wish to take on adds a nice sinister quality to these creatures, but this engaging little detail is only a brief little exchange hidden in the midst of some rather tiresome exposition. An extremely disappointing issue made even more so because of a) the usual quality of the book, and b) the fact that itll be another 3 months before the creative team can redeem itself. Hopefully the finale to the books second arc (in what, 3 years?) will deliver on the potential of the books premise. Read Full Review

There is quite the gratituous double-paged spread of The Ultimates in this issue---good if you like that sort of thing. Read Full Review
