The X-men return to their headquarters with an injured Professor X. While chasing down the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Professor X was caught in an explosion that seems to have robbed him of his telepathy. The X-men put Professor X to bed. They are soon interrupted by the arrival of visitors. Jean's parents (John and Elaine) have come for a visit. The X-men scramble to get into normal attire.

The X-Men see the Toad (in disguise) at a televised track meet & recognize him as a mutant due to his athletic abilities. When the spectators turn hostile, the X-Men go to his rescue. On the subway back to the X-Mansion, they recognize that the new mutant is their old foe, the Toad. The X-Men are ambushed by the rest of the Brotherhood at the subway station. Magneto takes the Angel hostage before the Brotherhood retreats & takes him to Asteroid M. There he is tortured by Magneto while being interrogated as to the location of the X-Men's base.
