I still can't stand Venom's bland and trope-laden main character, but at least Costa is surrounding him with a supporting cast that's starting to make things interesting. Combine that with Sandoval's excellent artwork, and Venom might still have a chance to permanently bond itself to my pull list. Read Full Review
This issue addresses several of the concerns I had last month. However, there are still a few concerns I have with how the story is progressing, even if I'm eager to see that progress. Read Full Review
Venom might just be the most frustrating addition to the Marvel NOW lineup. It's close to offering a clever new take on the character, but the bland human protagonist and lackluster art both serve to hold the series back. The series clearly needs some fine-tuning, and hopefully the upcoming anniversary issue will do just that. Read Full Review
Changing the symboites to a race of benevolent Klyntar was a terrible revamp and unnecessary retcon and has tainted all stories Venom since then, IMO. Flash should consider himself lucky to be free of all connection to the mess. Better if Venom had stayed born a wild entity that had developed a moral compass from human hosts and then this story would have worked much better. Plus at this point Black Cat should BE the Kingpin of Crime to dethrone and NOT still on a quest to gain the title.
