Overall, Venom: Black, White & Blood #1is a dense start to yet another Marvel anthology that kicks the door down with deep and delicate stories across the board from creators both new and old the symbiote mythos. This is a can't miss for modern and classic Venom fans alike, but does cater considerably to the latter. Read Full Review

    AIPT - David Brooke Aug 20, 2025

Venom: Black, White & Blood #1 is a strong start to the anthology, spotlighting the character's multifaceted identity across horror, heart, and heroism, with top-tier creators leaning into the raw power of black-and-white storytelling. Usually I'm not a huge fan of the "Black, White and Blood" and similar books. Sometimes they're decent, more often than not they're just bad stories that aren't good enough to be given the full treatment so they use a gimmick to try to get the most out of them. Plot
This special features several short stories from different creative teams with plenty of violence and gore:

“FORCE MAJEURE” by David Michelinie, Jonas Scharf, and Clayton Cowles: Venom is hunted by soldiers led by a scientist who needs him for his experiments. Venom becomes judge, jury, and executioner.

“SWEET WILL BE THE FLOWER” by Ryan North, Creees Lee, Andres Mossa, and Clayton Cowles: Venom, in his quest for justice, encounters a teenage tragedy.

“FATHERS & SONS” by J.M. Dematteis, Dave Wachter, and Clayton Cowles: Eddie Brock tries to free himself from Venom after the events of Maximum Carnage, but Venom is too persuasive.
