Venditti is moving in a new more complex direction with X-O Manowar and just when readers think you have this character figured out Venditti throws a curve ball you never expect. His ability to make alien technology and superhuman traits feel natural is the key to X-O's success and continued growth in new directions. This is one of Valiant's books that marks their signature of a great comic book publisher and Venditti is the key to raising standards of great comic book storytelling. X-O Manowaris a great read and heading for bigger and better things to come. Read Full Review

Imprisoned and interrogated at an off-the-grid black site. it may seem like the end for Aric of Dacia, but this issue proves to only be the beginning. Now it does have some slight bumps in the road, though that is not to say this story doesn't have a lot of potential to mold Aric into a character who can find his place in this world. Things will definitely be better in the long run as long as we can see the importance of the Visigoth's past without spending too much time there instead of the present. Read Full Review

X-O MANOWAR is still has awesome as ever. Although an issue dealing with the main character stuck in a detention center, all issue, may not seem like your cup of tea, Venditti provides a fantastic narrative and actually does a nice job at catching up new readers without the book coming off like 20 pages of exposition. I'm excited for the future of this book, even though Aric is not in control of the armor. This is a Valiant "must read." Read Full Review

X-O Manowar's 2014 launches really well, and I'm really glad to see that Valiant has done a great job in spinning this book out of its previous event in an exciting and new direction, rather than what happened after Harbinger Wars for Bloodshot and Harbinger. Despite the lack of armor, there is still plenty of drama in "X-O Manowar" #21, just not much X-O Manowar. I'm certain Venditti has a long-term plan, but in the interim, he brings readers a character who is out of his depth, but not out of hope. Aric has faced adversity all his life, and Venditti convinces readers that the former host of the X-O armor will eventually overcome this new scenario as well. This is kind of a dull issue, but Robert Venditti has brought up some things that will be built on in future issues. The art is the strongest it has been yet, and will hopefully continue to stay that way. Not a great or action packed issue, but a relevant one. Read Full Review
