I'm sad that the new Valiant's first series, it's only series that has been with us since the relanch is coming to an end, but we are ending on a high note so far. The issue was good and I have high hopes that this will have a great ending. If you are interested in reading this, start with issue one and work your way to 50, you won't be disappointed. While this issue slows the pace of our story a bit from the initial start to the arc, it gives us the necessary motivation to understand our villain's sudden appearance. The art as usual is amazing and I'm always very impressed at how detailed not just the characters are, but the world around them is as well. Although issue forty eight isn't as exciting as our last effort in the series, it builds momentum necessary going forward to have a huge finish for our final two issues. In many ways it felt like I was reading Civil War II #0 again because of the many lateral panels. Not really a con, but it made me lose the plot's thread a little when I noticed this. Anyway, this series seems to be on the right direction and I'm starting to think it could turn to be a really cool TV or web series because of the style, the narrative and the plot itself. The weird, wild, and wonderful world of XO Manowar continues. Im a huge admirer of the series excellent art and solid writing. I dont have much to comment on here, since the story is still developing, and Id like to have the whole arc in hand before I drop the gavel; however Im optimistic that Valiant has the situation well in hand. Mostly Im wondering how Manowar is going to defeat the Torment, since they seem to be all-absorbing and all-powerfulI cant wait to see how it pans out. Read Full Review

Achieving one issue of a comic is a milestone. Getting to number fifty deserves accolades, especially when the book redefines the action comic genre. But I will not let Venditti off the hook when he offers a placeholder episode like this. Work up to a big story milestone, like you have done before, Mr. Venditti. Do not temper your pacing with such a lull prior to the big moment. Build action with action. You have achieved it so well before, don't let us down now. Read Full Review
