We are all set up for an epic last issue. Every thing will be wrapped up in a month, and the longest running new Valiant series will come to an end. What's next for the characters? Will we find out? Joe Bennet's musculature detail is on display and the colors by Ulises make the penciling even more amazing. The art truly mirrors the script, specifically the Torment. The rendition of the antagonist is fluid and smooth adding to their dispassionate portrayal. Overall I'm sad to see the publisher and creative team of X-O actually go through with their plans to stop the series at fifty issues, but I love how they are going out with a cannonball style splash.  The story is crafted perfectly with all the players in X-O's universe uniting to make a last stand and fight off an ultimate threat to this planet.  If you're a sucker for canon and continuity, Venditti has it all coming together here in a nice little package as our final arc wraps up leaving me excited for the big conclusion. X-O Manowar #49 may echo around your brain and make you think of the other times you've read, or watched, this particular chapter in a similar story before, but the comic sets up the final confrontation (and issue) very well. Read Full Review

With cameos by series guest-stars the Armorines and Commander Trill, Venditti is connecting all of the loose strings to tie the end of his tale. It's nice to see it all come together, but without an interesting hook to engage you the issue fails to serve as the beginning of a proper sendoff. Though the worlds of Earth and Vine are at stake, this arc serves as little more than a final set piece for the lengthy run. Read Full Review
