It has been a while since I last looked through a Vault book. It is good to see that during my time away the quality that Vault brings to the comic book shop is still there. There's a lot of familiar material here if you're someone that has dealt with lengthy conversations about morality, violence, and the thin layer of civilization that in the eyes of some is a form of control to keep us docile. Olivia's book looks to be something that has triggered events so that it's causing people to push away that veil and they're thoroughly into the violence that feels very out of character for them. I'm curious as to what direction Bunn will take it but I quickly took to Kade and everything about her. It didn't hurt that Leiz's artwork is fantastic and I really liked the design for Olivia herself, as well as the world she inhabits. I'm definitely intrigued to see what the endgame is for this. On the whole, this isnt a bad first issue but its not a great first issue. I think it has the possibility to be a good series when taken as a whole, so while I probably wont collect the single issues, I will still more than likely wait and grab the collected edition when it comes out. "The Last Book You'll Ever Read" #1 is a slight first issue that would be better suited as the start of an OGN. The art is well-suited for the book in all respects but the ideas have yet to show why they are unique and deserving of attention. Fans of the genre may have fun but for those burnt out by "what if moral panic X held weight" type books, I would skip this one. Read Full Review
