Absolute Batman (2024) #1 |
Oct 19, 2024 |
I just finished reading Absolute Batman #1, and I’ve got to say, it really impressed me. Scott Snyder and Nick Dragotta did a fantastic job reimagining Bruce Wayne as a working-class engineer rather than a billionaire. It makes him feel more grounded and relatable. The story follows Alfred as he investigates the Party Animals, a criminal gang, only to find Batman already on the case. This version of Batman has a different set of challenges and resources, and that makes the action feel more intense and real. The artwork is stunning, and the story keeps you hooked. Overall, Absolute Batman #1 is a great read that reinvents Batman while staying true to what makes him such an iconic character. Loved every page. |

Action Comics (2016) #1070 |

just finished Action Comics #1071, and it’s a wild ride. Mark Waid's writing and Clayton Henry's artwork combine for an intense, action-packed issue. Superman's journey into the Phantom Zone brings out some seriously epic battles, like taking on a giant spider. The artwork really captures his powers in an awesome way. The subplot with Kong Kenan and Conner Kent at the Fortress of Solitude is interesting, but it feels a bit overshadowed by the main plot. The Supergirl backup story adds a nice twist, too. Overall, it's a solid issue with a strong story and great visuals, even if the Kong and Conner subplot could use more attention. |
Nightwing (2016) #118 |
Oct 19, 2024 |
Nightwing #118 ends with a showdown between Nightwing and Heartless. Nightwing’s growth is clear, and his families' support is strong. However, the story feels a bit predictable, and the ending is rushed. Haley adds a nice touch, and I let out huge OH NO! when the pup was shot but couldn't fully save the climax. It's decent but doesn’t match the high points of earlier issue for me. Although I am very excited that this will lead to the new All In initiative! |

Titans (2023) #16 |

Titans #16 I was pleased with the way it began. When all the other teams joined the Justice League, I haven't considered what would happen to them. Then it took a turn for the worst. You would think Beast Boy would be slightly more careful after Beast World's happenings, wouldn't you? Even though I thought the writing was a touch off-putting, I still preferred it to Tom Taylor's run. The only true upside to the whole situation, in my opinion, was Donna. I'm eager to observe Donna's reaction to taking over as Titans leader. |
