Nightcrawler (2014) #1 |
Apr 10, 2014 |
While I really liked the narration at the start of the issue during the fight with Wolverine, the aftermath of the battle seemed to focus too much on Wolverine's current situation rather than the person this series is about. The art was pretty decent but nothing particularly special. The attack on Amanda's home felt very lacklustre and there wasn't much of a threat. The enemy chosen also felt very generic. While I really hoped for a Nightcrawler series that I could get behind, this isn't it. |

While the art was amazing on its own, some of the artistic swaps were too drastic and just served to take the reader out of the story. While the mini-comics (featuring Kitty/Peter and Logan/Jean) were quite amusing, they should have been placed at the end of the issue after the main story had concluded. The story was unrelated and just felt out of place where it was. The art in this issue is exceptional though. You should buy it if only for the fantastic art you get in here. |

Rucka maintains the great feel of the first issue but fails to really add any new twists to this issue. Still a solid (and necessary) issue and I have high hopes for the rest of the limited series but not a particularly exciting issue |

All-New X-Factor #5 |

While the roster is nearing completion in this issue, there were moments in this issue that were severely hampered by the art. During the climactic moment at the end of the issue, the art had a few frames that were entirely unclear. |

A good start to a run with an issue that introduces a lot of important aspects but manages to remain an issue that primarily consists of exposition. A good start. |

Beautiful art throughout (with a slight exception for the normally brilliant Sara Pichelli) with a very enjoyable issue. A good transition between the end of Cataclysm and the upcoming Ultimate ongoings. Sets the scene and leaves you wanting more |
