Issue #200 is a love letter to a character that holds so much weight with the readers of many generations. It is incredible heartfelt, and feels like the eulogy that Brian Bendis wanted to deliver. He takes on the task of remembering Peter, the anniversary issue, and handles it so well. Likewise, Marquez's art and Justin Ponsor's colors throughout the issue are magnificent. Moments including MJ's walk to the house surrounded by falling leaves, Mile's daydream of Peter as his mentor, and of course an exchange between Ganke and Gwen, all showcase their ability to communicate emotion and tone. For each creator involved here, they have brought their best efforts, and it lends to one of the most memorable issues in the history of the title. So as you can see I really don't have a negative thing to say about this issue. I feel it was one of the best situations that Bendis could have created. It paid its respects to Peter, but still gave hints of what's to come in the near future for Miles and the rest of Ultimate Universe. If you are an Ultimate Spider-Man fan or even just a Spider-Man fan I highly recommend you check out issue #200. It's one of the best superhero reads I have had in awhile and it will not disappoint. The 200-issue legacy of Peter Parker is celebrated in a way only Bendis can deliver -- with bountiful amounts of dialogue, supported by some of the best artists in the business. While the out-of-place cliffhanger and one or two quibbles with the art stop it from being as good as it could be, it's still an amazingly-executed comic book that does what it sets out to do, which primarily is to make you cry. Ultimate Comics Spider-Man #200 was exactly what it was supposed to be a celebration. Brian Bendis wrote this issue for long-term fans to remember why they have been reading this series and that is because of the dynamic between Peter, Miles and the rest of the Ultimate Spider-Man supporting cast. Each character was given enough time so that we can catch up with where they are and also get to see the dynamic they share together. The possible futures we got to see was great bit of fan service that had me smiling as each character had a different vision for Peters future had he not died. Bringing in the artists that were most attached to each character was a nice touch to make the possible futures stand out without getting in the way of consistency of Dave Marquez artwork. Everything about ULTIMATE SPIDER-MAN #200 is set to invoke an emotional response from the reader, and it really works, as long as that reader has been following this book for at least a few years. This issue is really for the fans, which can leave casual readers blowing out in the wind. "Ultimate Comics Spider-Man" #200 leaves the world of Miles Morales more integrated into the legacy of Peter Parker than ever before, despite the complete lack of action and adventure. Bendis and crew pour emotions into this comic book and give readers plenty of hope for the future while offering a wonderful opportunity for closure. A bicentennial issue might be an odd spot for new readers to hop on, but with "Ultimate Comics Spider-Man" #200, there is little worry about readers being lost. This is a nice, self-contained, timeless tale that celebrates Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Brian Bendis and his cohorts along the journey throughout the legend of the Ultimate Universe's greatest hero. "Ultimate Spider-Man" #200 isn't a game-changer. There's hints of what's to come but they don't matter in the face of the pure love flowing from both the characters and creators. If you're looking for an "in" for the Ultimate Universe you should probably wait until the eighth reboot in a couple weeks, but if you're a longtime fan of Spider-Man, be it Ultimate Parker or just the concept of Spider-Man in general, this issue is a bittersweet celebration of everything Peter Parker. I picked up this issue because I was intrigued by the premise. For this landmark 200th issue, the characters who were closest to the Ultimate Peter Parker have gathered for a two-year memorial wake to honor his death. There's a lot of potential in a premise like that to see what each character remembers and chooses to share, and what a great way to recognize a character who died before reaching the promise that all of us old-school Marvel fans know that he had because he's still alive in the primary Marvel universe. Plus, Brian Michael Bendis wrote the issue, and he's one of Marvel's better writers when it comes to getting to the heart of his characters. um, how the hell did marvel get to 200 issues of USM, counting both peter's and Miles' tenure this is only the 189th issue of this comic, not counting Ultimate Six, Ultimate Marvel team-up, and Ultimatum: SM requiem .

so... did Bendis want to do this issue later on, but had to move the milestone issue 11 months forward because cataclysm necessitated a relaunch, and they didn't want to change the number, that's the only thing reasoining that makes sense

Beautiful art throughout (with a slight exception for the normally brilliant Sara Pichelli) with a very enjoyable issue.

A good transition between the end of Cataclysm and the upcoming Ultimate ongoings. Sets the scene and leaves you wanting more
