Guess I'll just be blunt. The art is gorgeous, beautiful, wonderful and I've never given a rating this low to a book with such great art. But whatever is going on with Krypto seems pointless to the story, which means it's shock value. Feels very lazy. At least there seems to be wiggle room to bring the dog back (that and comic continuity re-adjustments give me some comfort). I'm on the fence about Kara's use of profanity. It's a vibe of "she's 21, get her drunk, get her cursing." Wonderful >cue eye roll<. As positives, Ruthye, the setting, and the journey are all very engaging. That's why it's frustrating that this issue was so aggravating. If Krypto was in a "med-bay" and Kara cleaned up her mouth, I think I'd be giving this a 9.

The idea of mashing up Superman & the Authority made my head hurt at first glance, but I'm very glad I took a risk on this one. Morrison doesn't let me down. This feels like a prologue to whatever the main story is going to be and appears set in a timeline that is outside of "normal continuity". I was happy that Superman is Superman and Manchester Black is Manchester Black (unless there is a big swerve coming up). Loved the dialogue here and laughed on two occasions. Looking forward to the next issue.

A well crafted story that, to my delight, showcased Black Lightning and Katana.

Strong art and I continue to like what Eve Ewing is doing with the character. Remains a must buy for me.

I like the pace of this series right now. The art is outstanding and will be very interested in following this artist to future projects.
