The final issue, and whole event really, was just okay throughout. Rather tedious and boring at times. The celestials constant inner monologue was hard to read at times… in that it felt like boring filler dialogue not unlike old 90’s narration boxes that could be skipped over without missing anything. I do like the idea of resolving a big conflict without resorting to who can hit harder. Only sometimes of course, since it can be a lot of fun to see a good super hero battle. I’m also torn by this because I wanted Thor to use jarnbjorn to slice the head of that celestial like he did in uncanny avengers. I guess he forgot that he has a weapon specifically for killing celestial… The art pretty good aside from a few minor bits. Star fox sure looked hideous but most others were impressively illustrated. I like the artist and it helped a lot getting through it. I just can’t help feeling constistantly let down after each issue. There was nothing terribly wrong but there was nothing all that interesting. I appreciate the attempt at what was done, I just couldn’t get myself to enjoy how it was executed. If you enjoyed it and loved how it played out, I think that’s great you read something that you loved. For me, this will end up in one of my boxes and likely won’t see the light of day again for many years since there are many other stories I enjoy and will re-read long before I go through this again. For that, I just can’t give it higher than a 7 |

This is issue was the type of story telling I’ve been waiting for during the Beyond storyline. Last issue was great and this kept the momentum and brought things to an even more exciting direction. |

I’m just taking a point off because goblin queen is kinda boring. A fill in the blank villain. What I really like is how this issue makes me hate it for what it’s doing to Ben. Like in a good way. I have it a nine. I am afraid the overall story May do long standing damage to a character I love but it has engaged me in a such a good way that I can’t possibly score it low! I’m hoping Ben will come through the hero but I fear marvel also views him as expendable and wants to give a very different status quo… until the end though, I’m excited for what comes next and when I can’t wait for what comes next, this was a good issue. |

I use to really enjoy Sara pichelli’s art but lately it’s been going down in quality. I didn’t even realize it was pichelli at first. While not the completely bad, I did find myself thinking the art was bothersome at times throughout the issue. Otherwise I thought it was a great issue! |

If this is your thing, fine, you are welcome to like it. I didn’t like it. I don’t like Peter being written so I likeable. I’ve read Spider-Man for years, and this isn’t the first time a writer tried this. I recall during the clone saga, Peter smacked MJ, and that was stupid writing then. That doesn’t happen here, or anything like it, just thinking of an example of Peter being written unlikable. At least back then, the agenda was to get readers to be more sympathetic to Ben as the real Spider-Man. It was bad writing. I don’t think this was clone saga levels of bad writing which is why for what it is, I can see some people enjoying this. I just hate seeing characters be petty with each other. I don’t want to read that. I also HATE when stories use a time skip and over time and issues fill in the blanks as to why people are acting the way they are. It is probably my least favourite writing device and has never once told a better story by doing this. Just tell me the damn story and stop skipping around it! So I gave issue one a shot. I’m not wasting my money on issue 2. |

This comic sucks! I’ll give it the Linkara treatment and explain why. I’ve read a lot of Spider-Man comics and never had Peter Parker been such an unlikable idiot as he has been since Wells took over. Not only is this back to broke Peter, a status quo that really makes him seem like an idiot, but it’s also unfriendly jerk Peter to everyone. I hated issue 1 but thought I would finish the first arc and see if it gets better. This is a waste of money. Don’t buy this comic. It sucks. The cover is a lie. There’s not a single panel with Mary Jane here. Remember when Spencer took over and first thing he did was get Peter and MJ back and most fans said it was about time! So Wells decides it’s time to break them up, seemingly for shock value as no context is provided. The only reason I didn’t give this a one was the art. No it’s not great but it is standard JRJR doing what he does so I’ll give it a point for not being hideous. The plot with Tombstone is boring and takes up most the issue. You know who’s not a challenge in a fight for Spider-Man? Tombstone. So we have boring plot, which is forgivable if the character work is good. BUT we have the worst character work on Spider-Man that I have ever read. We have no redeeming supporting characters because they all hate Peter now. Makes them look like jerks, you’d think whatever happened (and I hate non-linear story telling, so I know it will be revealed eventually) but you would think in this superhero context that friends would understand the batshit crazy things happen and to give each other a break from time to time. Superhero comics without anyone being a hero. That’s what this is. I have enjoyed some of Zeb Wells previous writing. This is not where I’m going to call him a bad writer in general. I will say that he is on track for writing the worst Spider-Man I’ve ever read. OMD was bad but even then the character work and art was better. Rant over. I’ll miss Spider-Man for a while. Suffering through writing this bad is not worth completing the arc or even getting the 900th issue, screw the collector impulse in me. |

This was okay. It’s to see the heroes get a bit of a win after such dark circumstances but it seemed so easy. It seems like at anytime prior, infinity thing could have just walked in there and destroyed the bad guys. Or even wonder man. There was even a mention by wonder man about why they didn’t do it earlier… that’s a good question that goes unanswered. The remaining heroes had so much power, how did they even let it get so bad? Maybe there will be more explanation but I doubt it. Also, I’m still not clear as to why red skull would be so powerful with just a symbiote. In the end, after 3 issues I’m just struggling to care still. |

Captain Marvel has somehow found its way into being my favourite ongoing title now. This was another great issue. The art is good, the story pacing with Carol is good, I’m genuinely interested and wanting to see what’s next. Makes for a good comic read. My only complaint was that this issue had no binary. I’ve enjoyed that part of the story but this issue doesn’t touch on it. Minor complaint but couldn’t give a full 10 because of it. 10’s should be hard to get anyway! |

This series continues to be one I look forward to. Peter David pays good attention to past continuity and characterization. Something I always appreciate in comics. The only criticism I have if a somewhat jarring transition in the last few pages where I had to check if I missed a page by accident. Moon dragon comes out of no where. I expect her to show up, it wasn’t her presence that felt off, it was just the abrupt transition. A page or a couple of panels of story telling should’ve been added to get there. Minor problem really, but when it feels like a page in the story was missed, but wasn’t, I can’t justify a 10. Really good issue though. I’m quite happy with it. |

Great issue, good ending to the mini series. Really felt like this was the proper ending to Peter David’s Captain marvel from 20 years ago that never had a proper ending. Let’s hope it sold well enough to keep Genis around, at least on a team book or regular supporting character. I’ll buy whatever he shows up in next |

This is the lowest point of GL writing that there has ever been. I started reading GL around when Blackest night came out and loved Johns run. I’ve since read everything going back to Crisis in the 80’s and aside from a few bits here and there, green lantern has been awesome! This run though… is trash. It’s sad to see. I’ve stuck around out of loyalty to the title but I’m done now. |

It is nice to enjoy Spider-Man again. I stopped reading Wells run because, well I hated the way he writes Peter Parker, but this issue was great! I loved the first spider verse and also spidergeddon so I’m happy to get more multiverse madness here! I only didn’t give it a ten because the chosen one nonsense needs to stop. I’m not sure if that has ever made a story better. Peter 616 can be the main hero, it’s kind expected, but we don’t need to chosen one it. Spidergeddon was great because 616 Peter was only barely there. Let the others shine sometimes too. I’m okay for now with the Morlun twist but it better have a decent explanation coming up. I know common threat and all it it better go deeper than that. Regarding Jessica… she will probably be back by the end, web re-weaved or something like that, but if she’s not, screw you Slott and give me Jessica back! For now, good way to make the stakes feel high. I should’ve read spider verse mini series but now I’ll get the trade because of this. |

This is a bit of a hard one to rate… I appreciate what Taylor is trying to do regarding a message of climate change. It still shocks me to think there are climate change deniers but that’s the screwy thing about the world. My issue is that an issue like this in the DC universe doesn’t seem to equate the real world issues. Real world requires systemic change, not feel good paper straws and shorter showers. Dc universe has any number of insane super powers, including swamp thing which has been shown to quite rapidly change the ecosystem. It’s looking at the literal parallels to the real world where I feel a disconnect. Also, I still miss Jon Kent from the rebirth era but at least now he’s better than how bendis wrote him. I’m pretty sure Bendis hasn’t written anything good in 10 years. I will continue to give him credit for ultimate Spider-Man and his daredevil run. Those are classic! |
