The final issue of Captain Marvel feels like a farewell letter from Peter David to the character that he helped forge for Marvel decades ago. Read Full Review
Genis-Vell: Captain Marvel #5 ends the five-part run with something between a whimper and a bang. Ramrez's art is excellent, and all the threads wrap up (too) neatly, but it's hard not to look at this run as a rushed, convoluted excuse to bring a handful of characters back to life. Read Full Review
Great issue, good ending to the mini series. Really felt like this was the proper ending to Peter David’s Captain marvel from 20 years ago that never had a proper ending.
Let’s hope it sold well enough to keep Genis around, at least on a team book or regular supporting character. I’ll buy whatever he shows up in next
An ending that ties things together too nicely and leaves me wanting something better that may never come. Ramirez on art was worth the ride and although some panels were rushed dues to crazy schedules or whatever, his big splashes and great character moments were very good. He will have a bright future in the biz.
PAD clearly wants to turn the clock back and also to write something for Marvel set in the present. Only time will tell if Marvel is interested in this (and if his health allows for it.)
I'm surprised and pleased to find some depth and change in a latter-day Peter David comic.
