Dan Jurgens and co are really nailing Superman and Action Comics is a steady stream of awesomeness and is what this character is all about. Jurgens brings these characters to life with all their flaws, strengths and emotions and this comic should definitely be on your radar!

Action Comics #993 was classic Superman at its best and Jurgens successfully delivers another fun issue of everyone's favourite son of Krypton but more importantly, it was great seeing Booster Gold back in the DCU after his absence. Complementing the engaging text and story was the art by Dan himself which was finished by Joe Prado and Cam Smith who helped with the finishing touches. I also loved the full page panels employed by Jurgens, especially the close-ups that were filled with emotion and overall, the action scenes flowed well. However like the Oz Effect arc, there's definitely more to this story than meets the eye and I'm placing bets on a parallel reality!

Aquaman is back, and better than ever. I'm aware that aside from the artist, not a whole lot has changed here, but this issue feels wildly different than its predecessors.

Blue Beetle 11 returns Jamie to somewhat normality after the epic story featuring a corrupted Arion. This issue boasts some further character development, particularly from the supporting characters of Blue Beetle and of course Jamie who tries to grapple with the events from the last few issues. Then you have the killer page at the end which features our favourite Dark Knight, Batman!

Generations Phoenix and Jean Grey #1 is a fairly enjoyable comic because Cullen Bunn, R.B Silva, and Adriano di Benedetto pull back the curtain and show the women behind the cosmic, destructive force and stage a cool space battle to boot. The ending is kind of anti-climactic although I like its middle finger to messing with the timeline.

Green Arrow Rebirth comes as comic that didn't know if it wanted to tell stories in the Vein of the uber gritty Longbow Hunters, or be more on the nose with both it's politics and superheroics like the Hard traveling heroes were. Percy and Schmidt however decide to blend both mixed in with their own take on the Rocker and the Archer who are throwing away the fame and fortune to fight corruption no matter what form it takes. Green Arrow is in my top tier set of heroes and this is the best that that the character has been since Arrow Season 2 and the Jeff lemire, Andrea Sorrentino run. This is the best comic I've read thus far this year and i'm hungrily looking forward to issue #1 of this series to start.

The Green Lantern titles desperately needed a refresh, and at least on the writing end Johns and Humphries deliver. Uneven art holds the title back, but there is room for improvement when the series regular artists join the book with the proper first issue.

Although a powerful issue, I was definitely torn with this darker DCU and as Rebirth attempted to bring back hope to this DCU, it seems that Heroes in Crisis has tarnished it again although it could be the ripple effect from the Doomsday Clock. Nonetheless it was perfectly illustrated by Clay Mann and Mitch Gerards who create a gripping story with emotions and drama. In the end, with all clues potentially pointing to Wally West as the killer due to the loss of his family, Im betting that Tom King has some huge twists still coming this way.

All in all,Highspotis a fun and quick read. It won't be as satisfying for those looking for complex plots and unexpected twists of surprise but for a fan of speedy thrills and quick-paced action, it's perfect! There's still a couple of days to catch it here on Kickstarter and I have to admit, I think you'd be missing out by not checking it out.

Honor and Curse is the perfect comic for those interested in feudal Japanese tales mixed with horror elements. An entertaining and engaging read, you don't want to miss out on what happens to Genshi next, or who's behind it all.

BOOM! Injustice 2 #33 once again ticks all the right boxes for a fantastic read!

Ottley's art is as always is top notch. The dismemberment splash page is beautiful and I found myself starring at it for quite some time. Sure there's a ton of violence, but at least it's drawn well.

So while we get some more answers, there's plenty of more questions needing resolution but all in all, Justice League Dark is headed in an interesting direction… just don't bench Kent Nelson after his 2016 return James or make him the new Nabu for Khalid Nassour.

Beautifully drawn by Amancay Nahuelpan, this artist successfully captures the world of magic within the DCU but firmly from a heroic perspective. This definitely lends itself well to Ram Vs story telling with strong dialogue and an interesting plot. Of course, we all know that Justice League Dark will prevail and that John Constantine will not be dead. However Kent Nelson, I once again fear the worst for this character that has died multiple times before and hopefully Ram V is not using the original wielder of Doctor Fate as an emotional story point.

Justice League #11 is another excellent issue as not only do they add to the mythology of the Lords of Order but provides some excellent characterisation, dialogue and action for the reader which is filled with some very dynamic and clever panels thanks to the artist. All in all, this grassroots League is probably one of my favourite incarnations in a long time and who would have thought that Lobo and Killer Frost would be members?

Even though Richard Riders return is underwhelming and confusing, Ian Herrings space age color palette and Ramon Perezs blend of cartooning and cosmic radiance in his artwork make Nova #1 worth a glimpse. Plus Sam Alexander is kind of adorkable with his inability to get his life together.

Even though it enters into all out espionage plot mode, Peter Parker: Spectacular Spider-Man #2 doesn't forget the jokes and goofy sense of humor that made the first issue so great.

All in the all, the dialogue was fun, the story over the top and who would have ever thought that we would be seeing the Justice Society of America in the pages of Scooby Doo! If you're a fan of either franchises, go out and get this comic now which is beautifully illustrated by Dario Brizuela who brings together this almost Golden Age presence that works extremely well with Scooby and friends.

A tantalizing final page, the glorious return of artist Sara Pichelli, and strong characterization of Miles Morales make Spider-Men II a pretty okay comic

Silly reason to knock a book, I know but I just can't get over the actors' faces in the comics. Aside from that, great read so far. I can't wait to see how it all ends.

Super Son #5 Battle in the Batcave is another fun issue on the children of Batman and Superman. Tomasi once again captures this innocence of both Jon and Damian with some great writing that really brings these characters to life. Super Sons is really a hidden gem in the post-Rebirth titles and if you're looking for a fun and lightheared read with excellent art, this is defintely the title for you.

Issue 2 of The Brave and the Bold: Batman and Wonder Woman was a fun read by writer/artist Liam Sharp who successfully merges the world of Fables with that of the DCU. I also like how he creates a purer incarnation of Wonder Woman as she fights for peace even in a world that isn't her own and how Batman for now is like a fish out of water. Sure, it is a little wordy at times but Liam's art really brings this story to life, particularly with extraordinary attention to detail.

Like previous issues, Liam Sharp successfully creates a modern fairy tale but with the protagonists of the DCU as he captures the voices of Batman and Wonder Woman perfectly. More importantly, its beautifully drawn and his world building is quite engaging from start to finish, especially with the diverse characters in this story.

Wow… the conclusion of this comic was a true masterpiece andLiam Sharp successfully brought together two mythical worlds with some great character development, including world building. Although Batman was at first in denial about this magical realm, it was fun seeing him to take the reigns and the team-up with Wonder Woman worked well. So if you missed this 6-part mini-series the first time around, I'm sure DC will release a trade to celebrate this landmark story.

Lonnie Nadler and Zac Thompson an excellent job of humanizing its main character Arnold when homeless people are often marginalized and forgotten by society in The Dregs #1. Even though he dresses differently than him and is hooked on a drug named listo, hes a true private eye in the Philip Marlowe tradition and even takes on the Chandler characters name during the zoning meeting. Add Eric Zawadskis neat panel grids and bursts of grotesquerie buried beneath the fancy buildings and food, and The Dregs is one of the more unique comics Ive read in 2017.

Why I responded in the negative vis--vis this graphic novel is because I felt the writers embarked on an unnecessary endeavor. The Prisoner is its own beast; a masterpiece destined never to be copied or replicated. Although controversial, the conclusion of the series had a sense of finality to it. But in Shattered Visage we discover that 'Fallout' may have been a drug-fueled hallucination all along. Through the course of this narrative more head scratching questions arise as opposed to definitive answers; and that is why it's frustrating. Yet, in spite of all this, as a spiritual successor nothing else so far has come close. To all loyal fans, 'This is for your eyes only.'

Creepy little book for Halloween. This is one to follow.

Even though Im totally biased because Kitty Pryde is my all-time favorite superhero, X-Men Prime #1 reminded me of why I love the X-Men. Under the watch of Marc Guggenheim, Greg Pak, and Cullen Bunn, it looks like Marvels merry mutants will embrace hope and heroism again, and the youngsters and lone wolves of the X-Men will get interesting stories too.

X-O Manowar is a great work of modern Science Fiction, and Issue #2 of this groundbreaking should not be missed.
