The Walking Dead #145
Aug 25, 2015 |
THE WALKING DEAD has slowed down this week, and it is just the medicine we all needed. The emotional storytelling is humanizing, and exactly what we needed after the violence and plot twists of the previous issues. |

Where Monsters Dwell #2
Jun 26, 2015 |
Artist Russ Braun is making this incredible series that much better with his characterization of these two adventurers. Every emotion, no matter how subtle, is shown quite beautifully through his pencils. Whether Clemmie is reacting to one of Karl's misogynistic comments or Karl is whining because Clemmie is wearing the pants in this relationship, we get to see everything. One fine detail I appreciated the most was featured on the last page of the issue when they come across a tribe of amazon women. The clear deviance in their faces is quite remarkable and noteworthy. |

Where Monsters Dwell #3

The whole issue is full of Kaufmann getting his butt-kicked and ends with his fate hanging in the balance. The social deviance of both genders defying their norms is what really gives these tall-tales life. I'm not quite sure where this will go, but I look forward to seeing how the relationship between Karl and Clemmie will shift as Clemmie and her tribe now hold all the power.I can't wait for the next issue in what is becoming my favorite series! |

Where Monsters Dwell #4

Russ Braun is awesome. Let's be real, here. The clear effort he puts in is evident in every minor detail from the leopard print bikinis and the grass skirts of the tribal men. But where would we be without Dono Almara? Probably nowhere".or reading something else. Who knows? Almara does an incredible job with the color. Everything is bright and realistic and washes so well together. Something that really wowed me was the way the goat blood spread through the ocean and how it rippled through the waves. He makes something so seemingly simple look so natural. Then there's the colossal shark. It's a full page of fighting waves and flying bodies. Despite of it illustrating my greatest fear, this is the most impressive issue to date. |

All-in-all, this is a strong second issue. It's fun, clever and on point. Still a bit slow-moving but definitely worth the read. |

Prez (2015) #3

PREZ is well thought and considere. It's evident in this issue. She's the person who can finally get on it and fix things, clearly needed by the sight of poor, desperate Manny. Caldwell is still going strong with the art. Everything is kept as fun as its plot and the facial expressions are key. There's plenty of energy and everything is nice and easy to follow. My only complaint is that the plot is still a bit slow-going. We could use a little pick-up, but everything else is so perfectI seem to not notice it that much. |

Weirdworld #2

The art is probably the best part of this series. Even just the cover art is gorgeous and enough to make you want to read this. The whole issue is wonderfully gritty and dark, reminiscent of Thundercats, with carefully placed bright pops of color amongst muted darker backgrounds. Although it happened to be a short issue with little development, there was enough to keep me interested for the next release. All-in-all, I'd say there's even better content to come. |

Bombshells #1 is a fun opening to what will hopefully be a strong continuing series. Although the episodes are short, which can be a little unfulfilling, there is enough here to love and come back for more! |

Marvel Zombies (2015) #2

Something I really love about Walker's monsters is the beautiful job done in keeping the tone morbid and horrifying but Guru-eFX doesn't allow the colors to make it all dark and depressing like an issue of The Walking Dead (don't get me wrong, it works for TWD but not here). The bright colors and bold look keeps the humor and nature of Elsa lively and relatable. It's well-written, smartly illustrated and keeps us entertained. |

The art is gorgeous, no question. The zombies are gruesome and bold, while the Ultron pages are so well thought out in composition and color. What we've been given here is a bit of a cluster of confusion, but enough to keep us interested and waiting for the next issue. |

Waller herself even reveals a side we haven't quite seen. Instead of seeing her normally barking commands and witty retorts at the Squad, she instead releases her defeated disappointment in Bonnie. Bonnie takes Sage around a tour of the prison operations, fully expressing her naivety. Waller has to flat out ask her, "when are you going to realize how awful everyone is? |

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10 #16
Jun 26, 2015 |
So, the full team is back together and all is well in their world, for now. Almost seems like a major death is coming, right? It was a bit strange to see Angel smiling and dare I say, whiney. Spike whining is one thing, but Angel doing so seemed out of place and forced. The method of death for the creature seemed a bit cheap, almost an excuse just to physically force Angel and Buffy to fall all over each other unintentionally. In the end, it's all shenanigans. Romantic couples have shifted and Giles is a child, which is ultra creepy might I add. But maybe there is more hope than it seems to have. Hopefully their eventual showdown with Archaeus brings out the full potential of this series. |

Buffy the Vampire Slayer Season 10 #18
Aug 26, 2015 |
In the usual fashion, The Slayer has an advantage over the baddie by using her kung-fu moves and the power of friendship. This isn't a bad thing, as the character interaction is done quite well. This issue left us wanting, as there was no real substance to bite into with the battle against Archaeus not actually coming to a close. It was a lot of build-up for little payoff. |
