I cant figure out if the intent was to be a parody, either. It seems to be played straight by Rob online and nothing in the comic seems to indicate that it is meant to be satire. Liefeld typically plays that up in his work. It is at a weird place that doesnt seem to have a market outside of the loyal Bloodstrike fans that demanded this series but they surely would be taken back by some of this book. It isnt compelling story telling. There are elements of Bloodstrike that are fantastic especially the brother aspect between Cabot and Battlestone and the concept of Born Again but those are neglected here for some cheap attempt at ribald comedy that doesnt click. The story is paint by the numbers Liefeld. I love the guy but this book, outside of some absurd moments, is just boring.

In the end Bobs Burgers #1 traps the essence of the show into four color form. The short stories were a brilliant decision and set up for some high quality humor. The art style doesnt deviate far from the models which helps attracts fans and is a delight to look at. The art team had an eye for comedic performance by having the characters act to perfect timing. Bobs Burgers #1 is a blast to read and fans of the show need to buy this comic.

Captain Midnight #12 is a great jumping on point for new readers. All the past events are organically explained and it avoids the massive info dump. There is a recap page that help explains the events but it isnt even necessary to read because the comic explains it so well. The writing by Williamson is a worthwhile effort. He explains the past events in an easy to swallow format. The story is a cool down issue and provides an obvious direction for the following arc. The art by Garcia and company is average but you can tell effort was put forth and doesnt hinder the comic in any way. Overall, the comic is an interesting read and a worthwhile read and something I would recommend to anyone looking or a superhero story outside of the Big Two offerings.

Overall, Edward Scissorhands #1 is a fun comic that continues the story from the movie while establishing a new direction that promises hope for a series of stories. The writing is fun and skilled at balancing the difficulty that comes with handling a beloved film such as Edward Scissorhands. The art while may make some turn their nose up at it is in reality something that captures the world of the bizarre that Tim Burton has built. Fans and the uninitiated will love Edward Scissorhands #1.

Overall, Ghostbusters Get Real #1 is a fun trip down memory lane for fans of the cartoon. The story seems to be a fun one full of adventure. The art is tremendous at setting the stage. The writing is funny and character driven. There are flaws but they arent something that ruins the overall reading experience.

Godzilla: Cataclysm #1 was a great book. The art was masterful and the story presented was different from the usual Godzilla tale. The ground work is being laid for the mini-series and the story should prove to be one of the more enjoyable Godzilla books as of late. It is great for new readers or old fans alike.

Overall, Godzilla Rulers of Earth #13 is a great jumping on point for new readers who want to see a wide variety of the Toho monsters and want a comic with a feel of a movie. The story is enthralling and to the point in its direction, setting up a showdown that is a fan favorite with hopefully some twists along the way. The art, while uneven, doesnt break the comic. It is just unpolished in its style and with time will become more refined in style in technique. There are makings of great things in Zarnow but still some work to come. At the end of the day, I enjoyed Rulers of Earth. It was a decent comic that most people will enjoy.

Overall, Inhuman #4 tries to help regain the momentum of the event. Whether or not it does is still up in the air, yet, as of #4, it is on its way back to the top. Soule delivers a solid job on writing but could use work on the pacing. Stegman is a great follow up and will help the title regain its strength. Inhumans are the next big thing for Marvel and they arent going away. Inhuman #4 is a good starting point for any reader interested in them. It reestablishes the narrative and doesnt hamper itself in the process. There are mystery components and revelations that make the book interesting and worth a pick up.

Still, Kaijumax is something special and a comic everyone should be reading. It is rich in character and beautiful in design. Cannons passion and years of experience in comics comes together to create a world that is delightful. Kaijumax #2 (and the whole series) is for anyone that has ever enjoyed a giant monster movie. It is phenomenal in what Cannon creates.

The Mantle #1 is off to a solid start. The premise Brisson is exploring is interesting and innovative. The concept of legacies is one always worth exploring in comics especially if its done with care. Level and Boyd bring a sense of dynamic and kinetic art that is a delight to read. The Mantle #1 is a worthwhile read.

Overall, Ragnarok #2 is for Simonson fans. It is a Norse mythology tale that features an undead Thor. What is there not to like? The story is interesting and shaping up to be an epic is scale. The art is full of detail and highly energetic. The drawback is that the reader may be off-put if they are not a fan of Simonson style. With that your mileage may vary.

Overall, Resurrectionists #1 is an action packed adventure that promises heists and intrigue for the future. Van Lente can deliver a script and Rosenzweig and company can bring the artistic goods to help create one of the most unique books on the shelf today.

Overall, Rise of Magi #2 continues the fun mystical ride of the first two issues as it finally enters into the real world. Consequences are beginning to be established along with mystery and intrigue. The art is fun and highly animated but over worked at times. It does not hurt the book but it does not help it. The book continues to set up an intriguing story that promises to be enjoyable.

Savage Hulk #1 is comic that fills an interesting need. It is non-continuity, in-continuity title that allows creators to explore whatever venue they wish to follow. Davis delivers a story that is fun and interesting to read as much as it is to look at. The story choice is an odd one but it is setting up to be a story for Hulk fans with Leader, Hulk Busters, and promise of Abomination. It does take some help getting into and the team relies on the prologue page dumping information of events off a decades old X-men comic. The art is amazing despite its minor perspective flaws. Savage Hulk #1 is fun read and will work for anyone that has interest in reading Hulk. It does require some work, but the comic does provide plenty of information, even if it is clunky.

In the end, Steven Universe #3 is a fun comic. It perfectly captures what makes the show effective and compelling. The emotional beats are present and the art direction is delightful. Steven Universe #3 is a must read for fans of the show.

Overall, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #35 is a great read and a good jump on point for the new reader. Nothing is lost to the new reader with everything being explained through well-placed exposition and flashbacks. The scripting by Tom Waltz and story by Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, and Tom Waltz, is fantastic and compelling to read. The art by Mateus Santolouco and Ronda Pattison is top-notch. It fits the story, interesting to look at, and tells a story on its own. If you arent reading this series, you are doing yourself a disfavor. Pick up this issue and the trades. You will not regret it. In fact, issue #35 is a great jump-on point.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #50 is a landmark issue that doesn't disappoint. It is a resolution to the long brewing plotlines and a satisfying read. The issue in of itself is quick to pick up on and relatively new reader friendly too. The Donnie as a robot angle withstanding, most casual fans could find this issue easy to pick up and read. The emotional beats are self contained and the plot, despite being a climax to 4 years of stories, is also written with a single issue in mind. That is what is asked for in landmark issues as they are the ones people are likely to pick up on a whim. The art is superb and will have the readers coming back for more. The emotions both Santolouco and Smith are able to bring to the paper is fantastic and well worth the price of the book. There are flaws in the pacing and random threads being seeded that take away from the plot. These are minor, though.

I feel like I can give someone a copy of this comic with little knowledge of the Turtles and they will pick up on it in no time. It is in-continuity, but not a slave to it. It is for Turtles fans and general audiences. Turtles in Time #1 leaves you wanting more, but at the same time doesnt leave you feeling ripped off. This issue will likely be talked about for years to come as a great comic and something people will recommend checking out.

I would recommend reading the previous installments first but it is not required. Primacy #1 is a solid entry point for new readers looking to read Transformers comics but dont want to navigate the continuity of the main series Robots in Disguise and More than Meets the Eye.
