Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #35 was fun as it ends one drama and starts another for the series. It's a must read for TMNT fans and readers of the series. The story gets better once you have all the issues together. It's only going to get more interesting as the next issue we see Leo and Splinter facing a classic TMNT villain known as the Rat King. Overall, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles #35 is a great read and a good jump on point for the new reader. Nothing is lost to the new reader with everything being explained through well-placed exposition and flashbacks. The scripting by Tom Waltz and story by Kevin Eastman, Bobby Curnow, and Tom Waltz, is fantastic and compelling to read. The art by Mateus Santolouco and Ronda Pattison is top-notch. It fits the story, interesting to look at, and tells a story on its own. If you arent reading this series, you are doing yourself a disfavor. Pick up this issue and the trades. You will not regret it. In fact, issue #35 is a great jump-on point. Read Full Review

Mateus Santolouco again astounds, each page and panel sure to elicit many a Cowabunga. We've said it before and we'll say it again -- man it's good to be a Turtle fan. Read Full Review

Comic Vine - Gregg Katzman Jun 18, 2014

TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES #35 is a really good issue. It makes some major developments, looks consistently fantastic, and makes sure it always has the reader's attention. It manages to strike all of the right emotions, too. There's a gripping scene in the graveyard and the twisted situation in the apartment is surprisingly humorous. This single issue manages to bring quite a few changes to the universe, so I'm thoroughly excited to see where it'll go next with these characters! It's a shame Leonardo has been cast aside in this story, but it looks like the next issue is going to change that. Issues like this one prove it's a great time to be a fan of the turtles. As I said, we have two great TMNT stories coming out this month. You better grab both just too be sure. IDW isn't slowing down anytime soon with this universe, so you have got to keep up. Plus I haven't mentioned Leo, but something strange happens to him that will be touched upon in the coming issues. I'm not sure if he knows it yet. The comic leaves a lot of his story up in the air so really all we have to do is wait. I think some huge stories will collide soon with the Turtles. Leo will play a huge roll, the Technodrome, Angel, Casey, and so on. We have got a lot to look forward to TMNT fans, so get ready. Read Full Review

    All-Comic - Cole Kennedy Jun 18, 2014

TMNT #35 stays true to its source material in look, aesthetic and characters, but falls short when it comes to the actual story. Undeniably, the plot will progress in further installments as there is just too much going on in all the characters' lives to keep the story dull, but this particular issue just didn't capitalize on all that story. With mild story progression, some action scenes included just for more action, and very little character development, this issue felt more like a setup for whats to come, but at leastthe overall visual design is good. Weird animals should be TMNT's bread and butter, but it seems like the weird animals are being underdeveloped if they're not teenage mutant ninja turtles. Old Hub has grown beautifully as a character, but I can't say that for the rest of the characters. I do appreciate how fast this comic can move. It takes forever for something important to happen, but all the weird little character shit has a neat, logical progression to it. There's not a lot of time wasted by characters explaining why they now have a cyber-enhancement suit, they just acquire a cyber enhancement suit and then start fighting entire gangs. Characters in TMNT are all about getting stuff done. Read Full Review

Another great issue moving the story forward. This series always has the feeling of a greater evil looming over the characters and the last panel revealed another danger to the squad. I liked Slash better as a brute..that's said this issue is another solid one.

Wow, it seems like we're getting a new character every issue, and it's fantastic. I love the characterization and situational drama that happens here. As for the art: whatever you do, IDW, do not let go of Santolouco!

Picture the scene. A TV flickering in the corner; pizza boxes strewn around the room. DVD's of the 87' cartoon stacked up alongside copies of the old Mirage turtles comics. In the middle of it all is Tom Waltz.

This is how I imagine he manages to include so many callbacks to previous incarnations of our heroes, and the myriad characters that inhabited those worlds.

I've had to visit TMNT wikis on several occasions to see if a new character is an old one, and I'm always pleasantly surprised by not only the reference, but the fresh spin that seamlessly integrates them into the IDW universe. Of course Mateus's strong designs and artwork helps things.

But are these guys also clairvoyants? Two weeks ago (Wooo for more
