Trying to figure out a way to thwart Krang's Earth-ravaging monstrosity, the Technodrome, Don seeks the help of his genius (but cranky) friend, Harold. Unfortunately Harold has his hands full with his newest invention- the robotic turtle Metalhead!
Combine that with the issue's chilling conclusion, and you have yet another great chapter in what is turning out to be a legendary run for the franchise. I know that many of us are scared about what Michael Bay might do to our beloved heroes in a half shell, but at least we can all take solace in the fact that the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comic book universe is consistently being guided by capable and talented hands. Is this comic a must read? Yes. Will this comic please everyone? Probably not. Like I said before, the people who will get the most excitement out of this will be TMNT fans. While new fans will enjoy this comic, It's the old fans that will enjoy some classic characters with a new twist. It takes the best from what we liked from TMNT. This issue takes some new chances and that's always welcomed. It's a cool way to get more readers who haven't read the comic yet. Overall, it is easy for me to say how much I love every issue. The action is always entertaining whether between turtle and turtle or ex-Purple Dragon with Metalhead. With so many characters piling up the plot is stacking up to another huge showdown. The showdown is always better when you know the background behind it all. So we may not all be as big of a fan as me, but it makes it more exciting to know the work behind it all. I do wish we would have seen more of Krang for the sake of seeing the villain's perspective. It is hard to be on Donnie's side too when we don't see the bad guy. Plus I love Krang's story. It has become more complex. And Stockmen is with him as well, and that dude is entertaining as hell. IDW continues to deliver pure fan service. They're able to give us what we want to see and include just enough change to make it feel like a totally unique experience. They aren't changes for the sake of changing things, either. You can tell they really respect the source material and want to apply practical and exciting alterations. Even though we've seen different incarnations of Metalhead before, this doesn't feel like more of the same and the result is an incredibly fun and superb looking issue. That Metalhead action scene was nothing short of perfect. Pages never felt so alive and he looked so cool such a great rendition of w classic. I can't say enough how great these characters are ... Splinter has his own plans and I love how forceful he is written. This is one of those great comic series .
The series sidesteps into this relatively contained segment, but it's all worth it to see Santolouco's absolutely stunning rendition of Metal Head! Also, in just one page I'm getting uneasy at Splinters increasingly reckless perspective as he brushes off the threat of the Technodrome.
