For me and heres some of the hyperbole Ive been trying so hard to suppress to this point every arc of this series goes further and further towards cementing its masterpiece status. Blending popcorn action with incisive literary acrobatics, Once & Future is like absolutely nothing else on the shelves today, and gets my highest possible recommendation. Read Full Review
With Once & Future hitting the 25-issue landmark, its clear the book has a fascination with how myths are twisted and interpreted. Gillens script provides Moras pencils, Bonvillains colors, and even Dukeshires letters the chance to subtly change and conform to the version of lore the story necessitates. This is one of the smartest books currently in the long boxes, and by far one of the most gorgeous, and deserves to be on everyones pull list. My biggest regret reading this book is that Im no longer in college, as this is a work that deserves to be read, reread, and picked apart, working on levels far beyond the action-adventure story of a man and his grandmother that it was originally sold as. Once and Future #25 goes bigger, bolder and brasher as the might of three kings make war across the magically transformed landscape of Britain. As well as this omnipresent threat we get a Robin Hood recast as a magical republican with his Merry Men made up of faerie folk. And, thankfully, on the side of good. But, will they be enough to battle on three fronts? The beginning of the end starts with this oversized, entertaining and thrilling issue. Read Full Review

Once & Future #25 is a great return to the action. Readers get to check in with all the major players and get an idea of some of the problems on the horizon. But it's not too much at once after the long pause. Read Full Review
There are quite a few characters on the board at this point, and it can be a little difficult to remember who is where and doing what even for someone who has been with the series from the beginning. Still, this series continues to chart a course all its own and redefine what Arthurian tales can be, and it deserves every bit of praise it receives. Read Full Review
The issue is also notable for Bridgette's daughter showing up at the heroes' compound… as a friend? And the return of Lancelot looking for Elaine suggesting that this pair might still have a part to play in what is to come. But whose side will they be on? Read Full Review
The fates are at it again, this month will see the return of Bill Willingham's FABLES (next week!) and from the previews/covers it is clear that Willingham is going to tackle a character he's long wish to write about: ROBIN HOOD. It's going to be interesting to see what he does considering his conservative values.
Which leads me to this title's introduction of the Merry Crusader of the wood. Kieran Gillen continues to kill it with this series, re-inventing, deconstructing, and completely honoring the source material he's taking from.
The ending of this issue completely also just sent me over the moon.
I really hope this series doesn't end any time soon.
