Buy, as this book serves two fronts: one, giving the reader a different look at the character than what is on television, and two, showing just how important it is to have this character as an ongoing character in the DC Universe. Read Full Review

Nothing happened this issue to suggest an ongoing series with this creative team would be a bad idea. Hopefully this spotlight on Black Lightning has won over enough fans for DC to keep these adventures rolling. Read Full Review

Geek Dad - Ray Goldfield Mar 7, 2018

The penultimate issue Black Lightning: Cold Dead Hands, Tony Isabella's revival of his most famous concept, is hitting at the right time, as Black Lightning is now one of the hottest characters on TV. This miniseries features some similarities, to be sure, but it commits to a sci-fi vibe infused with a realism that could only happen in the comics. Read Full Review

After reading five issues I still hope that there's been some talks about giving Black Lightning his own ongoing series. But I also have to concede that this mini-series has brought the character into modern day in such a resonant and compact way that it wouldn't be the end of the world if this was all we got for a little while. Geeked Out Nation - Jideobi Odunze Mar 7, 2018

Black Lightning and Tobias Whale coming face to face for the first time was well worth the wait. This is what happens when you pit two enemies against each other, and with real determination to take the other down. Is this the trap to end Black Lightning once and for all? That much we'll have to wait for, but Black Lightning: Cold Dead Hands #5 was exciting for the execution of that moment and everything leading up to it. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Reggie Hemingway Mar 7, 2018

A too-quick read with not much advancing the overall plot. This has been a beautiful-looking miniseries with some interesting bits, but thus far it could have been done in one issue. Here's hoping the final issue wraps things up in some amazing way that makes spending the previous twenty bucks worth it. Read Full Review

I may have issues with Tony Isabella's plot in this miniseries, but it's clear that he still understands the core of what makes Black Lightning so great. Read Full Review
