Can't the comics get a pass with this one? Instead of a superhero, Taylor made Jon into an annoying activist, who goes on a protest and expects others to do something about it. Most of this young folks is probably going on those protest only becasue the alternative is school. And protest makes for a good excuse.

Merlyn - Oct 16, 2021

Yeah, exactly, the people who promote this type of stuff pretend like these kids are so conscientious when in fact they're just happy to get rid of school. Or in Greta's case, she and her parents benefit greatly from all the attention. The only "silver lining" is that we have just another 9 issues of this Dante's Inferno for Jon.

The thing I love most about this site is how fair the user reviews are and how the mods, for the most part, do not interfere.

Critic review: shoot your load over whatever social issue is being promoted

The collapse of Infantino Tower is an obvious metaphor for the shaping of a 'New Order' in DC Comics. Carmine Infantino is synonymous with the history of DC, as an artist, editor and publisher. The metaphor is both obvious, and laboured, with (real) Superman identified as trying to prop up the old system, "My dad is stopping it from toppling, but he can't stop it from collapsing in on itself." Great review, I'd just like to point out that my problem here wasn't with Jonathan saving the refugees, just with the messages Taylor was trying to put forward regarding immigration. He makes it look like it's very black and white and it really isn't. As you said, there's the problem of the asylum claiming, of the fact that no country can receive everyone who wants to be there but most of all the claim that Taylor pushed forward that only desperate people are seeking to go to other countries.

Merlyn - Oct 15, 2021

That's just blatantly false, there are economic migrants who go to other countries just to get better paid jobs and not because they're in any real life-threatening danger in their countries, and those people are taking advantage of asylum laws. That doesn't seem very fair to me. That was my main point.

So, this is a second issue and we are already changing the artist? Ok, whatever, I keep reading.

The story's decent, there is some cool Bat-action done by the NOT Batman and, surprisingly, I find myself entertained. Unfortunately, I kept reading further.

The issue was quick to remind me that a comic book cannot be just entertainment nowadays with gems more

There is this AquaMEN event in 2022 that DC just teased that's going to be written by Brandon Thomas (the guy who writes Aquaman The Becoming) and Chuck Brown, the guy who writes this. Now I don't think DC will make Manta the Aquaman, it's like making the Joker the Batman but DC is in a crisis right now, and not the Infinite or Final type of way, so that wouldn't shock me either. I'm sure, though, that Arthur won't matter much in that storyline.

Superman is the greatest superhero in fiction. Period.
