It's all formulaic, to be clear, but it's executed well, especially if you like action. If anything, that's the real downside in that it's just constant action for most of it. We do get plenty of dialogue and just plain talking, but it's mixed in with action from other areas unfolding at the same time, so that it just keeps feeling tense and almost a bit off because of it. It's like there is too much going on, even with it all building as it has. The switch was flipped too quickly to get to this point in a way. There are a lot of fun character moments, especially with Deadman, but everyone is still very much in their right character space for how this series has unfolded so it's enjoyable watching them deal with the increased stress of everything going os badly, repeatedly. Tie that together with fantastic artwork that's distinctive and clicks so well with the look of the vampires, and it's just win/win for readers overall. Read Full Review
There's a big mission down to Atlantis, as well as a great reveal about the fate of Mister Miracle, but the tone is so overtly chaotic that few characters make an impact except for the bizarrely funny teamup of Green Lantern Alfred and Ra's Al Ghul Batman. Read Full Review
DC vs. Vampires: World War V #9 continues to deliver tense, character-driven storytelling, with Matthew Rosenberg skillfully balancing a massive cast and Otto Schmidt's art bringing the chaos of battle to life. However, the issue's slower dialogue scenes and uneven artwork in certain panels keep it from reaching its full potential. Read Full Review

There was a screaming match at the therapist's office ("WHAT DO YOU MEAN THE ALFRED LANTERN, BAT AL GHUL, AND BABY DEADMAN PLOT IS SIGNIFICANT? "WHAT I THOUGHT YOU CARED ABOUT EVERYTHING MAKING SENSE?) and uh, we aren't sure where this will go. But at least the Wildcat story helped smooth things enough to make sure we can last till next month. Read Full Review

I'm simple, I see dinosaurs, I give it stars.
No, but more seriously, is is mostly what I wanted. The alliance between the human side and the vamps is fun, but fragile and its clear they aren't getting away with what they've done. However, it's obvious they've got their own plan, so I wonder how they'll end. I doubt it's the last we've seen of their conflict.
Darkseid has turned out to be a pretty good villain this, suprisingly, basically because it seems it may be even able to sway some New Gods into his side, which is very intriguing. Barda and Scott will obviously do their own thing and I very much doubt Orion will side with Darkside under any circusmtances.
