The Flash #18 has fun connections back to the DC All In initiative while also showcasing this grand cosmic, high concept science fiction story that embodies the child of the Speed Force in a pet dog. Read Full Review

    Geek Dad - Ray Goldfield

This run on Flash has had a lot of ups and downs, as it struggles to balance cosmic surrealism with some pretty down-to-earth family plotlines. This arc is now tilting back towards the former, as Wally has split himself into two parts with one half working with the Justice League and the other half on a family vacation to Skartaris. One of the best issues in the run. Still not perfect. Can't help saying that we appear to be in the late stage of the current version of the DCU. The Flash is the title that signals this the most through DC history. The young man who was Wally West who was not a very nice person has turned into a family man and leads the fantastic flash four and shares the stage with them all. Feels like the narrative end for the character that transported a transplant heart in exchange for healthcare. very late in the narrative now... At least his end state was better than what the pre crisis Barry got... but I guess DC still has time to kill everybody. Absolute is perhaps the stealth reboot hiding in plain sight. it's a lot of techno babble about Seven Point Star. I think this will be the series I am going to drop out. I'm more excited for Jeff Lemire anyway. Which is a shame that Simon Spurrier's Flash is not for me. Simon Spurrier is saying things in English, but it is still incomprehensible to understand because he's trying to sound smart. His dialogue for the dog is more unbearable than Tom King.

This book is so maddening. One issue it's pretty good, especially when focusing on the family, then it takes a nosedive the next issue, like this month's. I have no idea what Eclipso is after, what Wally is doing, what his son is doing. Even the art is confusing at times. What a mess. The sales have cratered, which makes me wonder when DC will finally pull the plug on this experiment.
