Mar 20, 2026Taking things to the Next Level is surely what ‘Nightwing’ #136 does as the familiar voices and style meets a new visual identity and tone. A great arc debut issue that solidifies the already rock solid foundational bedrock upon which the character rests. Read Full Review

Mar 20, 2026This new status quo makes the choice to explore Bludhaven’s history an interesting one. The mystery is made even more intriguing by Denys Corwan artwork that creates a darker tone that is not usually the style this series is known for. Read Full Review

Comic Watch - Theron Couch
Mar 18, 2026Nightwing #136 is an effective start to a new story arc. The art team has a rough start when it comes to character work, though it succeeds in other aspects. Narratively it’s a very moody comic as Watters sets up another supernatural story in what is becoming a very distinctive setting with the city of Blüdhaven. Perhaps best of all, Nightwing #136 is a perfect jumping-on point for an already strong run on the series. Read Full Review

Mar 26, 2026As stated previously this isn't a high speed action issue. But it doesn't need to be. Every issue so far has had that feeling so after the major city changing catastrophe that happened in issues 134 and 135, this was a great contrast. Showing the reader that this isn't the same Blüdhaven we know and are accustomed to. World building the city in a way Gotham City has desperately needed over the years. This is evident with the big bad of the story, going from gangs and corrupted government officials to witches that are literally haunting the new highway in the city. Causing issues for Nightwing that he may not be fully prepared for. Read Full Review

Weird Science - Jim Werner
Mar 22, 2026Dan Watters keeps trying to force supernatural storylines into his Nightwing run, and it keeps falling flat. Deny Cowan's art is a nice surprise and fits this type of story well, but the clunky dialogue, the odd jumping to conclusions, and the overall boring story just disappoint. It was easily the funniest book I read this week, with a couple of solid laugh-out-loud moments, but sadly, I was laughing at the book, not with it. Read Full Review

I liked it more than the consensus it appears, but I understand their concerns. The plot itself was interesting enough to me, I’m willing to see how the next one goes.

Yeah, that wasn't good at all. Watters doesn't want to be there.

I read all of Tom Taylor's run, then bailed. I debated whether I should join this "jumping on" point. What happened to Dick Grayson's voice? Who talks like that except a writer. Even the narration was like slogging through quicksand. Dick is supposed to be the tonal opposite of Bruce Wayne. If I missed something by not reading the last 30 issues, then this is not a jumping on point. Every line of dialogue, every word of narration, sounded like is was extracted from Martin Sheen's Captain Willard in the swamp of Apocalypse Now. I get that horror is now in vogue, but this version of "The Immortal Nightwing" left me cold. I'm out.
