Soule and Saiz hit the nail on Swamp Thing #37 and hard. With an immense focus on plot building and villainous growth, Soule delivers one of the strongest Swamp Thing issues to date. Jesus Saiz pencils this issue, so it goes without saying that it's one of the most impressive-looking comics of the week. Saiz continues bringing an elegant and refined look to Swamp Thing's world, blending detailed, organic elements with cold, efficient robotics. The standout sequence this month comes early on as Saiz renders a silent but grotesque look at Lady Weeds' transformation into the Machine Queen. It's enough to make you wonder if Swamp Thing suddenly became a Vertigo comic again. Read Full Review
"Swamp Thing" #37 continues to build on the significant and entertaining accomplishments of this series as Soule continues to craft a story that constructs new worlds, introduces new kingdoms, forges new alliances and breaks new rivalries. The Rithm is positioning itself to oppose the Green, specifically the avatar of the Green and is willing to do anything to accomplish that end. In doing so, "Swamp Thing" #37 shifts into fantasy/science fiction storytelling with a tinge of horror, temporarily putting the horror that made this character so wildly popular to begin with. Soule and company are still investigating the horror of the human -- and post-human -- condition, as sides are drawn and the battle appears to be on the horizon. This is a magnificent run, as Soule adds quite nicely to the legend of "Swamp Thing" that Scott Snyder laid the foundation for in September 2011's "Swamp Thing" #1. Read Full Review

Jesus Saiz really does an amazing job with this book. Everyone is always talking about Charles Soule when they mention Swamp Thing's title, but Jesus really does a fine job each month giving us our avatar of the Green the best he could possibly look. This is my favorite issue so far from the Machine story arc and I have high hopes for future issues. Each issue just keeps getting better than the last and I'm all for that. So definitely go check out Swamp Thing this month and even though it's a little light on our hero, it's a story you'll want to read. Read Full Review
Swamp Thing#37 is a stepping-stone issue in the larger arc. There are important developments here, and Charles Soule and Jesus Saiz continue to be a perfect duo for Holland as his adventures. That said, this issue definitely feels like a piece of a larger whole, and a slight pacing issue towards the beginning of the chapter only exacerbates that feeling. Read Full Review
This issue of Swamp Thing isn't quite as awesome as the ones surrounding it, but it has moved the characters around into the right positions to trigger the final showdown between Alec and his allies, and the Machine Queen and hers. It's obvious now that this final arc of the book will be using everything that has gone before to build to a massive crescendo. Aided by the always solid art and design work of Jesus Saiz, this issue is a vital step towards that finale, which is going to be both amazing and heartbreaking as this brilliant title ends.
