DC Comics News - Brad Filicky Sep 7, 2020

This is truly a work that Garcia and Picolo can be proud of. They did the characters they love proud. The characters are well developed and are honest representations of teenagers today. The art is a perfect companion to the script. Garcia has said she's got ideas for all the Titans and I, for one, can't wait to see what this team does next. Read Full Review

I need one of these books for every single character ever. I could happily have a series dedicated to Beast Boy, or Raven" or both! YES, they heard me. We will get to see more of both of these amazing characters, written and drawn by these awesomely talented people, in Teen Titans: Beast Boy Loves Raven.I don't know about anyone else. but this has sent me over the edge. I'm now on the floor scratching at the carpet, to give my hands something to do while we wait for the next instalment to come out. Garfield's such a precious, good hearted character, and Kami and Gabriel really bring that out in him. Read Full Review

Ending too soon isn't exactly a fatal flaw for a book though, and Beast Boy delivers so much before its hasty end that the only disappointment is there aren't any more pages left. Fortunately, the third installment Beast Boy Loves Raven is already underway, and it will be a delight to see where Kami Garcia and Gabriel Picolo take Gar and Raven next when they finally meet up in the universe they've created. Geek Dad - Ray Goldfield Sep 4, 2020

It takes a while for the main plot to get going, as the biggest threat in the first half of the book is a sneering high school bully and the tensest segment involves stealing a giant snake from a nearby college. With a strong animal-rights message, it's a good setup for Gar's future as a superhero animal-lover. Read Full Review

So, overall, I would say this was a decent book if not a great one. An authentic voice, some nice world building, and a good version of Gar well suited for the YA readership, it just lacked a little substance in parts. Read Full Review
