While Worlds' finest Futures End #1 was an okay comic, it could have been better. if your interested to see what Cadmus has been doing to some of the people of Earth 2, then go ahead. It shows are dark Futures can go for readers who haven't gotten around to reading Futures End yet. It's a shame we won't be seeing Power Girl and Huntress in this series for a while. But have no fear, as next month we discover the origins of Earth 2's Superman and Batman. Read Full Review

But for me, the biggest problem with the book is that, like most of the Futures End books, you don't know for sure where it fits into the bigger picture. Readers of the event know that Power Girl ends up battling Deathstroke in the main Futures End book, so this must come before that, except that during the battle with Deathstroke she's wearing the costume she destroyed in this issue. Maybe not a big deal to some readers, but for me these little inconsistencies really ruin the overall experience. DC tries really hard with these yearly “September” events but I'm not sure how well they succeed in doing more than interrupting the flow of their regular titles for one month out of every year. With some good art by Yildray Cinar and some decent writing by both Keith Giffen and Paul Levitz, it's a must pull if you are a fan of the Futures End weekly book or a fan of Worlds Finest. If you don't regularly read those books, then you might want to pick up a few others before picking this one up. Read Full Review

An entertaining semi-one-shot with decent writing and strong action was a surprise for me coming off of last week's horror show. If you've been wondering whether or not to jump on the Worlds' Finest bandwagon, this is a good place to test the waters. Go for it. Read Full Review

Well while we had a true tie-in to Futures End with this prologue type story, we were still bogged down with Power Girl getting naked and having no real plan to speak of as she tried to infiltrate Cadmus Island.  I understand that she might have gone all commando because her friend was in danger, but she's supposed to be a seasoned superhero at his point and that didn't really show here.  Just a rookie that hasn't learned a thing in the five years from when we last saw her to now.  I don't know what I expected here..... Maybe a little depth?  Character development?  Just something more than than the worst prison break in history.  The only real joy for me in this issue was the suburb art by Yildiray Cinar that tried it's damnedest to make this a good issue, but the story just seemed to be lacking. It basically tells us a story where we already know the ending to, but doesn't provide any extra information, details, or characterization to engage the audience. WORLDS' FINEST " FUTURE'S END #1 is Deathstroke swinging his sword at Power Girl and slicing nothing but air in comic book form, repeated forever. Afterwards, he will always say "I've caught bigger prey" in a nod to the fact that this series is usually a lot better than it is when it has "FUTURE'S END" as the tagline.
