Space Ghost Vol. 2 #1 kickstarts the next journey for Space Ghost. David Pepose does an amazing job of picking up where volume one left off, well adding some wrinkles. This issue features a combination of the narrative of a returning grandfather and an epic battle occurring simultaneously. Pepose crafts a thrilling adventure in this issue. The story starts with some bombastic action before switching the focus back to the characters, their circumstances and individual conflicts. Splitting the story between the action of Space Ghost and the family drama with Jan and Jace is a great decision. There's still some awkwardness to the dialogue and characterizations, and the combination of the puzzling art and the unpleasant coloring choices make it something of a chore to get through, even if it's (mostly) worth the trip. Read Full Review
This is a different type of story, which I like. We have the battle of Space Ghost with Toymaker, while Jan and Jace have a conversation with their grandfather. He is attempting to gain custody, but they want to stay with Space Ghost and state their case. This is a good jumping-on point for new readers. I'm glad it did well enough to warrant another volume.
