Writer Greg Pak does an excellent job of capturing the vibe and feel of the earlier Supernatural episodes, with Dean still teasing Sam about his college education and Sam still grappling with the trauma of his girlfriend's murder at the hands of Azazel. I also appreciated that the CEO of the company they were investigating turned out to be a more complex villain than the actual monster Sam and Dean were hunting, adding an extra layer of tension and intrigue to the story. Supernatural #1 is a fun debut with a certain charm about it. While it doesn't get me to want to go back and watch the television series it does make me want to continue to read the comics. Supernatural #1 did a good job of introducing the comic book reader to this world, as well as season 1 Sam and Dean. For people already part of the "Supernatural Family they'll enjoy all the callbacks. I think Pak was able to get the voices right, but I was disappointed that he went back all the way to the beginning of the TV series. The story was decent enough. I think it's a mini-series, so I'll continue it.
