Duke #5 is a phenomenal, action-packed ending to Codename: G.I. Joe. The way the story ends gets you not only excited for Duke's future but also for the future of the entire Energon Universe. How this finale sets up G.I. JOE franchise success within the Energon Universe should excite fans with how things end. Oh I should say more for a review? Well the action was great, got lots of that. Got the classic faking the death scene. Got the start of GI Joes. Some more Destro stuff. All the good good stuff you want. Strong recommend. This was a fiery amazing start to the Energon Universe.
This was a pretty satisfactory conclusion. I have a feeling either before or after the regular G.I. Joe book for this universe launches that a brawl/team up with the Transformers is inevitable. The joes still consider all Transformers a threat (hopefully they'll learn and accept that that isn't the case) and The Decepticon and Cobra leaders don't have a pretty history either. I'm guessing this year is the warm up phase and 2025 will be the big one where G.I. Joe is ready to go, Cobra's ready to make their move and Megatron reunites with his troops. At least that's how you set up a perfect G.I. Joe/Transformer crossover.

Another good issue. I can't believe this is the same Joshua Williamson who works for DC Comics, but sometimes characters click with writers on another level. Duke turns on the action and the charm as we finish his solo story. The fight with BAT is good, his stand-off with Destro, and finally his motivation for taking on the formation of GI Joe. Good stuff.
