Duke is close to discovering the truth about the alien robots that have landed on Earth.
But who-or what-is M.A.R.S.?
The teams roster has solidified and next issue SHOULD set up the Joe/Cobra conflict in its entirety. If all my gushing over the book hasn't made it clear already, PICK THIS UP! It's a solid book. Read Full Review
Duke #4 proved well worth the wait as the penultimate chapter of the mini-series sets up what should be a pretty amazing and shocking finale. I've got a theory regarding the start of this mini-series and how it connects to Cobra Commander. If I'm right it sets the stage for the Joes' first major mission. Either way this has been an amazing start to the Energon Universe take on G.I. Joe. Read Full Review
With danger at every turn, the franchise of the G.I. Joe fandom shows why he is that of legend with another excellent read. Williamson constructs a heros unbreakable will through his writing. Reilly, Bellaire and Wooten give fans much to be excited about with their energetic action imagery. All signs point to an epic finale based off this strong lead-in chapter. Read Full Review
Duke #4 is an intense ride from beginning to end. Joshua Williamson, Tom Reilly, and Jordie Bellaire maximize every panel and page they have to spotlight what makes each character special. It all further elevates how Duke and Baroness in particular are positioned as the leads of this chapter in the story. The way things end get you even more invested in wanting to find out how this story for Duke will end. Read Full Review
Joshua Williamson's world-building of the G.I. Joe Universe has been great as each new issue introduces us to another character from the world of G.I. Joe. I can only imagine who else will make their debut by the time the series ends in April. Read Full Review
While not the strongest issue, Duke #4 is a hell of a lot of fun. There's solid action, some good humor, and overall, it's just brainless entertainment in a good way. The issue's heart is the classic G.I. Joe cartoon which balanced serious and silly. A good entry that continues Duke's intriguing journey. Read Full Review
DUKE #4 delivers solid military-style action and maintains the tension between Duke and his adversaries. While the storyline may feel somewhat repetitive, it still offers an enjoyable experience for fans of the genre with its captivating artwork and nostalgic cameos. Read Full Review
Action-packed issue covers a lot of ground and has a lot of fun doing so. Read Full Review
Duke, Baroness and company make their triumphant escape in spectacular fashion, but the story feels not closer to getting back to the big Transformers crossover storyline that keeps getting teased out. Read Full Review
High octane action, massive fights, Bludd survives (that sob), but is mutilated, Baroness and the crew make a break out and we end on a cliff-hanger. The issue was jam packed but didnt feel rushed to me. What more could have been added? Art was great, very kinetic. We get some great plot advancement here as well.
All in all, couldn't really have asked for more. This issue was just what was needed. Williamson is doing a great job here.
This is really a great series. Joshua Williamson doesn't shy away from the violence. Though I wish the connection with the Transformers would finally emerge. With only one issue left, I doubt that is going to happen. If they hadn't made that the driving force of Duke's motivation, I would have been fine leaving it out, but it doesn't seem as if Duke's arc is going to be even partially satisfied in this series. I do like the introduction of the GI Joe characters here and giving us the reason for Major Bludd's patch. Great GI Joe action.
